Guest guest
Sounds like you are on the right track - the IE journey :) (psstt! - there's a book list with member reviews in the Files section at this site. LOTS of good reading and easy too. I got a few of them cheap online as well) Best to you - Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > I admit, I just stumbled across this group, so I'm not as well trained > in Intuitive Eating as I should be. Guest guest
Welcome!! Definately sounds like you are on the right track. Accepting your body just the way it is, is a HUGE step in IE. (I've been doing this for about 2 mos now, and am still seriously struggling in this area). As for guidelines that I follow, it just depends on what stage I'm at. Right now I'm trying to focus mostly on eating ONLY when I'm hungry and stopping when the hunger has been satisfied. I'm hoping that someday when I feel as though I have that area under control, then I will start focusing more on the gentle nutrition part. However, I'm finding that "junk" food is starting to lose it's appeal and I'm starting to WANT healthier choices. So, I'm going to ask silly questions. I get that we have accepted that dieting doesn't work, and that instead we should eat when we are hungry. I guess I'm just curious if anyone follows personal guidelines? I like all types of food and try to eat a semi balanced diet. I'm nearly 50, I'm short, not quite 5 foot, and I'm a size 10. I always think I should be dieting, trying to lose weight, but it just doesn't seem to happen. I'm not unhappy being a size 10, and if my pants start getting too tight, I pay more attention to my food. I wish I was a size 6, but it's not like it would make any big difference in my life. OK, as I'm writing this, I realize this is probably the group I've been looking for. Being a size 6 isn't going to get me a promotion at work, or mean I would win the lottery, or anything like that. So, I guess I should give myself permission to be what I am, not what I think I should be, or what I was 25 years ago. Am I on the right track?
