that's a great question that probably has a scary answer... I to would love an

answer

How many children on the spectrum??

Does anyone have any idea how many children we currently have on the

spectrum in Florida? How about just in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-

Dade counties?

I think I one time saw a figure for Florida schools. You might

contact State Education and Early Steps for their figures, if they have any. I

would assume with the passage of the health insurance someone must have come up

with a figure statewide. Try contacting your representative.

Maybe one way to get an idea is to look at the schools our kids go to and see how many kids are in the programs there. I know that is not all of them but it would be a start

My sons school Sandpiper Shores in Boca has 30 students and Whispering Pines has 30 students and that is also in Boca just servicing the west boca area.

For information - UM-ADDM project staff or Department of Psychology - University of MiamiP.O. According to the state DOE, there were over 12000 kids diagnosed with Autism as their primary exceptionality in Florida schools as of Fall 2007, that was up from a little over 10000 in Fall 2006. I was given these figures as wee were working toward the insurance bill
