Guest guest
I am thinking about this too. Because I already have terrible spasticity and cramping, I started at 3.0 and have stayed there so far but I feel that I am still progressing. I keep thinking that I should try the 4.5 but don't know If I could stand worse spasticity.I don't really know what to do.Also Ive not been on LDN long enough maybe to really judge whether it;s stopping progression or not. I've been taking it since November 2005 but was tapering off steroids at that time so I consider the pure LDN time for me to have started in Jan or February 2006.It might be that I have not been on it long enough ....... Annette how long have you bee n taking LDN? they say we should give it 9 months. Nola [low dose naltrexone] Uping the dosage of LDN Hi All, Has anyone had an issue of being at 3.0 because of muscle cramping/spasms and felt for progression you needed to be at a higher dose because you felt your progression might not have stopped and so you went ahead and upped the dose and stuck it out? I thought I read that somewhere?? I am thinking of upping my dose even though I know it will cause more spasticity. I know I've read some people feel okay progression wise at 3.0, but I am concerned it's not enough for me. Thanks in advance, Annette
Guest guest
Good question Annette, How long have you been at 3.0mg? If you have given it enough of a trial, it might be worth going up for a bit just to see how you do. Your body might react well to it. If not, then you can just go back to 3.0mg. You will not know unless you try it. Most women seem to do best at 4.5mg. But this by no means is the same for every woman. We have a few women at 2 & 2.5. There is also one woman at 6mg because it was just not enough for her system. She is one of Dr. Bihair's patients. So, he must have felt that indeed she needed to be there. He normally does not recommend anything more than 4.5mg. You might want to try ordering the 1.5 to add to your 3.0 pill, that way if you need to go back, then you can just use 2 of the 1.5 together for the future. Guest guest
Hi Nola, I have only been on LDN for 8 weeks, and this week I started to alternate one day at 3.0 and the next at 3.5 because I have 1 mg pills and 3.5 mg pills. I go back to my doctor the second week of May and am hoping to be able to give her a number milligram wise to order for me, but I am STILL experimenting. Of course it's only been 3 days of doing this, and I feel much better on the 3.5 except for more tightness/cramping but less pain, numbness, etc. I hope you are right, and this is what I am thinking that either it's not a high enough dose or I haven't been on LDN long enough. I know only 85% of people are okay at 3.0, progression wise so maybe we fall into that 15% category. Of course I don't know if I am just having increased symptoms of MS from initially starting LDN or progressing. I am afraid to go much higher because of the spasticity.
