Its not that strange actually. If you think about the body as a machine you can see why the sugar from a sweet dessert would be appealling. It gives you a nice burst of energy and leaves you tired within an hour or two.

I had the same feeling you did. Wanting a dessert or a cookie or anything after dinner or even later in the evening. I used to eat all my dinner just to get to the dessert my body craved. Now I start my dinner with a sweet if I crave it. I might get a few strange looks but I eat much less because my body had what it needed, a quick dose of sugar. The rest of the meal is satisfying and I don't eat nearly all of it.

So that is my trick. Hope it helps,
