Guest guest
My son has been on the diet since January 2002. We are using Iceberg lettuce only. Back when we started the diet the one time we ran out of Iceberg and we used Romaine lettuce . Our son started having seizures and the Romaine lettuce was the only thing we could attribute it to. Iceberg lettuce is mainly water but other lettuces, such as Romaine, have many more nutrients in them and could throw off the diet. Our dietitician at Hopkins has strictly told us to use only Iceberg. Our son has gone 5 months without any seizures. We currently (very slowly) weaned him off of phenobarbital and he is currently only on a small dose of Topamax. We follow the diet to the tee because he was having hundreds of seizures a day. This diet is our saving grace.

Do I consider it as regular lettuce? It's just that it's leaves are the perfect size to put a hot dog in there and wrap it up. I think lettuce is lettuce, right? > Halina > We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face...we must do that which we think we cannot > >
