Guest guest
Actually, I had to talk the neuro into the weaning idea. He would never have suggested it himself. So toxicity wasn't really discussed. I simply argued that since my son has been on lamictal for two years and his grand mals and myoclonics have become worse during this time the lamictal is obviously not of any benefit and taking it away would at least remove the side effects of the drug and possibly give the diet a better chance. has been on the diet for 2 months now and we have seen no change in seizure activity. 4:1 ratio. Dietician wants to drive him into deeper ketosis by lowering calorie intake from 1980/day to 1880/day. He weighs 31 kilos and has gained 0.2 kilos in a months time. Interesting point about percent reduction.....hmmm??? What to do. A couple of other responses from this list (and I thank all you wonderful people, the support is so comforting) lean towards less is better. I think I'm going to reduce slowly too and hope all goes well. Thanks again to everyone.
