...are you telling me you have granuloma annulare? Lumps and bumps

that are non-painful but disfiguring on fingers, hands, elbows, knees, feet,

etc?

I've had it since diabetes diagnosis and although I've asked on both my

diabetes lists, no one else has ever mentioned having it. You're the first

one!

According to my internet research, it is usually found in children and

although there's no known treatment, it usually disappears in two years or

so. Ha! Mine's been ongoing for nearly five years now. Internet research

also suggests a connection with diabetes, although how is unclear. My doc

says he's never seen such an extensive condition. He sent me to a

dermatologist who gave me cortisone shots directly in the most affected

parts, but it keeps popping up in other places. I also have huge disfiguring

patches on my buttocks and thighs without the lumps and bumps.

Maybe others aren't interested in this topic so you can reply offlist. OTOH,

it is diabetes related...and maybe someone else out there has it too. Please

tell me about yours. Mine was diagnosed via biopsy. I've never heard of

taking anything that would cure it nor could my doc or the dermatologist

suggest anything except the cortisone shots, which I've been hesitant to

repeat since it raises BGs.

Do you drink the apple cider vinegar? How much? Put it on food? Pat it on

the affected sites? How do you know it works for the GA?

Please tell me when and how you got the GA...where it is located...what your

doc said...what you've done about it...how long you've had it...etc. etc.

etc.

Vicki, excited about finding someone else who has granuloma annulare!

Thanks, ...I just joined the GA Yahoo group. Rare disease, huh?!

I'm on work break now but I'll write you offlist about this later when I have

more time.

I'm delighted to find someone else with this durned thing!

Whimsy,

I am replying to the list---maybe this will help someone. When I was

diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago it was because I went to the dermo

about the bumps on my hand. He told me they were GA and were related to

diabetes. I told him that I did not have diabetes but a light bulb went off

in my head and I realized that I had other symptoms also. I went to the doc

and was then diagnosed and put on glycophage. The four bumps (GA) went away

leaving scars. A few months ago they returned with a vengeance. I have

broken out with six spots on the back of my hands and they are growing

larger and larger. One is finally fading but since the flu my BG's are not

as low as they used to be. My doc gave me a topical steroid which did

nothing. Nothing seems to help them. (BTW---there is a GA list on Yahoo)

From the list someone said to try a tablespoon of natural apple cider

vinegar after breakfast and then again after lunch.(drink it!!!) I did it

and the bumps seem to be fading somewhat but when I stop the vinegar they

return. Sometimes I forget to take it and I think the bumps get a tad redder

so I try to be diligent about the vinegar. Anyway, it can't hurt. I hate

having them especially on the backs of my hands because I look at them

constantly.

I am very susceptible to all sorts of skin conditions and have a great deal

of yeast rashes and other things. I don't think there is much to be done

about GA but hope for the best. It is frustrating to say the least. I hate

it and hope I have helped you in some way but I think there is not much we

can do about it. I am sorry you are in the same boat. I don't think there is

a cure. My doctor just keeps giving me creams but the dermatologist is

realistic and told me nothing can be done. I hope it clears up eventually.

Please e-mail me privately if you want. We can commiserate. I thought this

would be educational for the list.
