Guest guest
Hi everyone. This is s mom. Well, his neuro appt. is Aug. 11th. That seems like a long time to wait. But, atleast we have a date now. I have researced every web site I have found on chiari and still am just as confused as weather to do surgery or wait. I got a copy of his MRI today and it says chiari malformation I with 10mm tonsil herniation. the top of the spine that could be seen was clear from any syringomyelia, but, they will do an MRI of his entire spine on the 11th. If we wait on surgery and just try meds for the headaches, leg cramps, vomiting, etc. will he just end up needing it later in life when recovery is worse on him? Will it continue to grow and cause more problems? He loves baseball, so, if we wait and not do surgery will he never be allowed to play again? Or, even if we do surgery, when he recovers can he play? What if we dont do surgery and he got hit in the head? Could he potentialy die? I know I could be asking the doc. all these questions and I will, but, I would like to get advice from those of you who have had to deal with these same questions and what your response is. well, I will go back to the web and search some more. thanks for any information you could send my way.
