Guest guest
All this talk about mothers has gotten me thinking! So many of us have/had challenging relatinships with our mothers. I just made a trip out to Arizona to make peace with my mom after 42 years of conflict. We're never going to be palsy-walsies, but we put a lot of stuff behind us. I realized through all the posts here, that I NEVER want my children to feel this kind of anxiety with me. Can you imagine if one of our children was posting on some board going, " My mom is coming and I don't want to deal with her. " Oh my gosh. That would be horrible. But, you know what? Practicing IE is going to really help prevent this. I am teaching all three of my children to listen to their instincts-- about food, and everything else. And I am respecting their choices. That is far more than my mother ever did for me. So, I am grateful for IE so that my children will never dread my visits...
