Here is the link for all thestations in the US that carry the show:http://radiotime.com/options/p_20626/The_Savage_Nation.aspxCall them, speak to the station manager, tell them your concerns andask for the program to be removed. Additionally ask that they run aPSA for several segments that will inform listeners about ASD andwhere to go for resources and support. The words of Savage will cause damage to the ASD communitybecause unfortunately he is carried on 350 stations. This too wasnot the first time he did this. He also did so in June:http://youtube.com/watch?v=g0U7HjzUe54Here is also an example of a local news station addressing thismatter in a pretty good way. Contact the folks that have assistedyour awareness efforts locally and do a story like this.www.scautism.orgI personally do not want to give Mike Savage-Weiner (his real name)another millisecond of airtime on this. He is loving this exposureI'm sure. So try to go the other route on this being a socialjustice issue and that if he had done so about a certain ethnic groupor gender group folks would not stand for it.We need to show that folks that bully individuals with disabilitiescannot be allowed to flourish. We need to be a voice for the ASDcommunity on this.Best all in your advocacy efforts,'The Savage Nation' Dropped by 7 Radio Stations After Autism Remark Savage's shocking remarks on autistic children being "brats"have raised a wave of revolt both from parents whose children aresuffering from the disease and from the general public. As aconsequence of this situation, seven radio stations have canceledairing the show, and one of the companies that ran ads during theshow decided to retreat them.On July 16, Savage, the host of the radio show that enjoysthe third widest audience nationwide, made some disturbing remarks bysaying that 99 percent of the children suffering from autism are justbrats whose parents should try to shake them up a little bit and showthem how they should behave.Despite the public's criticism to what he has said, Mr. Savage postedon his blog that he stands by what he told and that although somechildren are really suffering from autism, their number is farsmaller than the one told by the media. He continued to say thatdoctors are to blame as well because they rush to give the diagnosiswithout being really sure that it is the right one. Mr. Savage alsosaid that there aren't any tests that can really determine when aperson suffers from the disease and when not. Savage had problems because of his public statements before. One of his takes on homosexuality made him lose his job at MSNBC inthe past. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the 350 radiostations that air his show will react following the seven ones thathave already dropped it. Get fantasy football with free live scoring.
