The perfect mistake.

Well, I did it again, but I'm considering this a great mistake. I

have been listening to and loving the Inside Out Weight Loss

podcasts. They're really inspiring.

However, they also allowed me to drift a little from my true IE

goals, as I got refocused on " just losing a few pounds " . This was

a very subconscious, just-under-the-surface focus, as I still felt

like I was practicing IE, etc.

Then...I discovered sparkpeople. If you haven't seen it, it's a

massive health and weight loss website, filled with tools.

Well....I thought it would be a great idea to track my calories for

a few days. Not to change anything! Just to...track. And while

I'm at it, I might as well track my exercise. And while I'm doing

that, I might as well write in there some pretty lofty weekly goals

that I can click off each day, and how can broccoli have that many

calories, and maybe my turkey burger wasn't THAT big, and, and,

and....

You get the picture. It took all of one day to be back in diet-

head, and three days of that excitement (I'm doing something! This

will work!)...and then one night of total rebellion where I

basically ate the pantry.

:)

So. This was a WONDERFUL wake up call back into IE for me. I have

totally refocused on loving my body completely, right now, as it

is. I have also totally focused on eating what I'm hungry for and

letting it go, not obsessing. Amazingly, the past couple days have

been a breeze--even with my boyfriend bringing back pounds and

pounds of chocolate from Europe on Sunday. I've had some with him

each night, a normal amount, and let it go.

Thank god for my mistake.

Now, I'm still using Sparkpeople, but I typed in goals like, " left

my weight up to the universe today, complimented my body sincerely

at least three times today, ate when I was hungry and stopped when I

was moderately full, " etc.

What a difference, and thank god for IE.

I am just re-starting my IE journey after 2 years of misery and weight gain

while 'on diets', and I really needed to hear that :)

Thanks!
