Guest guest
Good morning fellow chiarians, Well I got through another tought weekend. My son has some kind of stomache bug and was pretty sick yesterday. My daughter has a bellie ache and now my husband has throat pain. The whole family is spending Monday at home. I pray to God I don't get sick. I see my nsg on Wednesday and have to cover alot of ground with him since my last appointment in October. I wanted to touch base on a cuple of things that have been posted. This will be long so please delet if you can't read them. I was told that a stelth machine was used during my surgery in April and in July this year. The tech put special things all over my head that resembled green life savers. they told me this was for special wires used during surgery. I also had to have a CT and MRI of special views that where used with the system. If this sounds like the type of stelth system that is used let me know I am curious to find out. Someone emailed about allergy testing and post nasal drip. I am a nurse in a ENT office and one of my specialty areas in the office is allergies. I do skin testing and mix the medication vials for each patient. There are several forms of allergy testing available. We use the blood testing method and the skin testing method. I have had to have both done. I have mold allergies which do not help the headache situation. I do not get shots but will use claritin during the fall and winter months. For anyone who needs to have testing done a word to the wise. The kind of skin testing I do in the office requires about 1 1/2 to @ hours. The patient sits in a regular chair. We place the antigent such as treets grasses, weeds, molds, dust mites and cat and dog dander on the upper outer portion of each arm. We make alittle wheel just under the skin of each antigen. It is not a painful procedure. We use a numbing cream for anybody who wants it. My point in emailing this is to let you know for chiarians this can be a long time sitting in the postion required. It can be stressful on the neck. A collar may be worn during the testing. Also some of the medications we need to take may affect the results the doctor is looking for. In this case blood work is sugjested. There are alot of allergy perscriptions out there. Like all meds you may need to try different ones to find the one that best takes care of the symptooms you have. If anyone has questions please email me. I " ll do what I can to help. Sorry this is so long. Hugs and prayers, Colleen in NY http://msnmember.msn.com/
