Guest guest
Hi , I am no expert on SCD, but just want to share with you I have been on SCD for over 3 months and have lost 22 pounds. Losing 20 pounds in just over a month doesn't sound right to me. If it were me, I would see my doctor or in my case my Naturopath. My weight is stable now and began to stabilize when I was able to add more foods to my diet like dates and nut flour baked goods. Try the peanut butter brownies in the BTVC book. The ingredients are just peanut butter, baking soda, eggs and honey. They are really good and should add some calories for you too. Best to you, Janet UC 28 years SCD 3 months Colazal --- wheath1013 wrote: > Hey all, Well I've been SCDing for over a month now, > and with the help > of meds my flare is getting better. Guest guest
Dear , In my opinion, weight loss isn't even a symptom. Yours was established on a previous diet and eating pattern. If you're not hungry, your body is telling you it's receiving enough calories. I wouldn't add calories just to add calories. I'd rather be concern about what your body is telling you, cravings etc. I'd want to make sure you body is receiving the nutrition it needs: iron, protein, vitamins... Not knowing your present weight, height, etc it makes hard to guess anything. Good luck, SCD 7 months CD-9 yearswheath1013 wrote: Hey all, Well I've been SCDing for over a month now, and with the help of meds my flare is getting better. Guest guest
Hi , I'm sorry, I didn't ready your post closely enough. 20 lbs. in one month definitely doesn't seem healthy. And to think I was afraid of weight gain when I started my Prednisone-- Oh the ironies of life! , One of the ironies of SCD is that one's weight tends to normalize on this style of eating. I dropped around 75 pounds in the first 5-7 months I was on SCD. I was too sick to crawl on a scale -- I really didn't care or notice in the first 2 months or so, but when I went back to work, one co-worker asked if I'd had bariatric surgery because my trousers were at least a full size too large. You're not doing badly with what you can tolerate. I bet if you sat down and made a list of what you actually ate the two weeks or so before you started, you'd find an awful lot of repetition. My weight just dropped until I reached the point at which it went completely out of control. (My form of malabsorption is something I call " the termite syndrome, " -- my bad bacteria turn normally inedible stuff into fatty acids which are easily absorbed.) Now I'm having to do things the hard way to get the remaining weight off. <wry grin> When I began, the strictures on introducing yogurt weren't so stringent. I was chowing down on a half cup to a cup a day with no problems. However, many folks on the autism list, and some people on the old Long Island list found that they did much better in terms of not triggering die-off as severely if they introduced the yogurt gradually. I can tell you that I do better with dripped yogurt. So yes, start with a very small amount. Warning: French Cream is very delicious and highly addictive. <grin> 5-6 small meals a day is excellent. To add calories, just add butter or coconut oil (if tolerated) to your cooked veggies. Eat ripe avocados. (Avocado mayonnaise is top-mark.) Guest guest
peanut butter is an advanced food b/c peanuts are legumes like beans. Try almond or pecan butter instead. You can do the peanut butter later! > Im gonna try the peanut butter brownies next- > > Carol F. Guest guest
Before I was on SCD, I became ill and went on a very strict diet and lost 20 kilos in two months. I think it depends on what the initial diet was. If it was SAD, changing to a really healthy diet can lead to the rapid loss of excess pounds. If you feel all right, I don't think it is too much of a problem, especially if you have them to lose. As my doctor said "You won't put on weight because your diet is healthy. It's people who have an unhealthy diet who get fat". problems for ever CD diagnosed Sept 2006 SCD Oct 2006 no meds, no symptoms 50 kilos 5ft 8J'utilise la version gratuite de SPAMfighter pour utilisateurs privés.769 e-mails spam ont été bloqués jusqu'à maintenant.
