The facility you were at is supposed to be trained to know this information. That is why they always check a child's ears BEFORE putting them into the chamber. You will never have this problem at the Hyperbaric Services of the Palm Beaches. They are an excellent trained staff. Subject: hbotTo: deniseslist Date: Thursday, July 10, 2008, 9:56 PM Does anyone know of other hbot facilities besides the HOPE center in Deerfield and Ocean Hyperbaric? My son unfortunately had a really bad reaction in the chamber yesterday. He was screaming in pain. It turned out that he had an ear infection. He is now on antibiotics. These two facilities are so busy with kids on a waiting list. I was wondering if anyone has gone anywhere else for the hbot treatments. Guest guest
I suggest you also contact the following and express your concerns. Bureau of Health Facility Regulation Health Care Clinic Unit 2727 Mahan Drive - Mail Stop #53 Tallahassee, FL 32308 / SC 278-1365 / SC 278-5897 Fax email: bellr@...GeorgiaSubject: HBOTTo: sList Date: Thursday, August 7, 2008, 1:49 PM For everyone's information - SOUTH FLORIDA's CENTER FOR HOPE is the name of the HBOT place in Broward County. HOPE FINE is the owner A child with red ears SHOULD NEVER BE PUT IN A HYPERBARIC CHAMBER. In the business of HBOT this is a fundamental basic rule - no excuses for mistakes. At this point Jodi you need to contact the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's Office in Broward County and file a complaint. It is very serious what happened to your son. It gives this business of HBOT a bad name as well. I think the problem with this particular center is that it consistently puts business first and medical issues second. Guest guest
Did you pay with a credit card? From: sList [mailto:sList ] On Behalf Of JodiNeuhof@... Sent: Wednesday, August 06, 2008 10:01 PM To: deniseslist Subject: HBOT I wanted to thank all that wrote to me regarding their experiences with the HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy). I had done 28 dives with both of my sons and never had a probelm. I had a terrible experience at a local HBOT clinic in Broward County. I have looked at other HBOT centers based on the recommendations from people on this list. When my son feels better, I will begin at one of these places. My son developed an ear infection but the people operating the Chamber did not check his ears thoroughly first and put him in the chamber. He was screaming from the pressure and pain but they continued to say they thought it was a " behavior " . He came out after about 45 minutes. He was seen by his pediatrician and he developed a sore throat, fever, etc as well as an ear infection. He was put on antibiotics (amoxicillan) which made him very hyper and agitated. We then did some testing to learn he had a lot of yeast in his gastrointestinal tract. He became very sick from this. I asked for a refund because this center asks you to prepay for a week of dives. The owner refused to refund me for the time we could not go into the chamber. She also charged me for the day my son was in the chamber for thirty minutes screaming. She owed us for three days and basically just gave us only one. We paid out of pocket because our insurance does not cover HBOT.
Guest guest
FOR YOUR BETTER INFORMATION.... MY DAUGHTER IS 3 YEARS OLD AND IS SERVERLY AUTISTIC. SHE DIVED 40 TIMES AT THE SOUTH FLORIDA CENTER FOR HOPE, WHICH WAS BY THE THOUGHT OF MY PARENTS TO BE A FRUITLESS TREND THAT NO ONE WOULD BENEFIT FROM. WE WERE SKEPTICAL AT FIRST ABOUT HOW DYLAN WOULD BEHAVE IN THE CHAMBER AND HOW THE CLINICIANS WOULD DEAL WITH HER ERATIC BEHAVIOR. TO MY SATISFACTION SHE WAS MADE VERY COMFORTABLE AND REASSURED OF HER SAFETY, AS WAS I. THEY TREATED MY SITUATION AND MY FAMILY AS IF WE WERE FAMILY OF THEIR OWN AND WITH THE HIGHEST RESPECTS AND SENSITIVITY. THEY WERE VERY DILIGENT IN THE MONITORING OF DYLAN WHILE SHE WAS IN THE CHAMBER AND MAKING SURE THAT HER HEALTH WAS STABLE ENOUGH TO GO INTO THE CHAMBER, CONTRARY TO OTHERS CLAIMS. THEY CHECKED HER EARS EVERY VISIT BEFORE AND AFTER THE DIVES, TOOK HER TEMP AND TREATED HER AS IF THEY HAD BEEN CARING FOR HER SINCE BIRTH! THE TECH EVEN WENT AS FAR AS TO BRING IN HER OWN MOVIES FOR MY KID TO WATCH AND EVEN CHANGED THE MOVIE OVER 10 TIMES IN ONE DIVE SIMPLY TO COMFORT DYLAN AS BEST SHE COULD. I WITNESSED THE TECH PLAYING GAMES WITH DYALN TO SOOTHE HER, WHEN SHE HAD NO IDEA I WAS WATCHING. THE LEVEL OF COMMUNICATION THAT THIS FACILITY BROUGHT OUT OF MY DAUGHTER IS AMAZING. THE TECH DIDNT JUST SIT IN A CHAIR NEXT TO THE CHAMBER AND MONITOR HER. SHE BECAME A PART OF HER TREATMENT, AND LIFE AS SHE HELPED HER SPEAK AND DISPLAY EMOTION. EVERYONE, DOWN FROM THE DOCTOR ON SITE, TO THE OWNER HOPE, THE TECH ROBIN AND EVEN THE OFFICE STAFF WERE AMAZING TO DEAL WITH. THEY WORKED WITH MY FINANCIAL SITUATION AND FOUGHT FOR PAYMENT FROM INSURANCE AS IF DYLAN WAS THIER OWN. AS A COMPANY THEY HAVE TO HONOR THEYRE FINANCIAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AS ANY COMPANY WOULD! YOU SIGN A CONSENT AGREEING TO THEIR POLICIES BEFORE YOU START TREATMENT. MAYBE SOME OF YOU SHOULD RE-READ THOSE CONTRACTS BEFORE LASHING OUT. THIS FACILITY IS ABOUT THE TREATMENT AND NOTHING BUT THAT! ITS ABOUT THE CARE AND TREATMENT OF THOSE WHO NEED IT AND THE MONETARY ASPECT IS, IN MY EXPERIENCE, SECONDARY TO THE SUCCESS OF THE PATIENT. EVERY ASPECT OF MY EXPERIENCE AT THE SOUTH FLORIDA CENTER FOR HOPE WAS BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS! EVERYONE SHOULD BE SO LUCKY TO RECIEVE THE KIND OF CARE THEY GIVE! MY DAUGHTER WILL CONTINUE TO RECIEVE TREATMENT FROM THEM AND I HAVE VOWED TO PREACH THIER HIGH PRAISES AS OFTEN AS I CAN. I HOPE ALL OF YOU HAVE THE SAME LUCK I HAVE TO FIND SUCH WONDERFUL PEOPLE TO HAVE HELP MY DYLAN. --- In sList , badillo9@... > > > For everyone's information - > > SOUTH FLORIDA's CENTER FOR HOPE is the name of the HBOT place in Broward > County. > > HOPE FINE is the owner > > A child with red ears SHOULD NEVER BE PUT IN A HYPERBARIC CHAMBER. Guest guest
HBOT will not be covered by insurence if the center uses the diagnosis code for autism. > > > Subject: HBOT > To: deniseslist > Date: Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 10:00 PM > > > I wanted to thank all that wrote to me regarding their experiences with the HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy). Guest guest
I note that you joined the listserv on 8/20/08, apparently just to post the below note. You don't give your name or any other personal information, as most folks do on the listserv. Would you care to identify yourself? List Moderator hgma281 wrote: FOR YOUR BETTER INFORMATION....
