Guest guest
I've been trying to Google, but hands and brain aren't cooperating. Hope it's okay to ask here. I know everyone reacts differently to meds, but maybe someone can help? (Is it Claudette w/ all the research I'd so love to concentrate on? Sorry if name is wrong.) I looked up Ultram/Tramadol and it said it isn't supposed to cause a histamine reaction like morphine may. I've only taken the Ultram every now and then, and haven't been good about tracking when and/or my reactions to it. It just barely takes edge off of pain. I asked my doc if I could increase dosage, and she rx'ed the extended release formula. Tried one, and found less pain relief and more somnolence, so have gone back to occasional 50 mg dosage. Most every night since I started noticing symptoms that eventually lead to going to doc/Fibro dx, I have an all-over intense itching that is beyond anything I've experienced before. No rash. Starts by varicose veins and old surgery scars hurting/aching/itching. Gradually becomes more systemic in nature. Happens whether or not I've taken the Ultram. I drink 2 liters or more of water a day, no soda, coffee, or caffeine. Benadryl just seems to dry me out more, as does taking baths. Cortisone cream (over the counter) doesn't do anything - coconut or olive oil or my aloe plant are more soothing, though don't stop the urge to scratch. The weather is cooler/less humid outdoors, but there's no heat/ac indoors to dry out air. It seems like the itching is from *within*, if that makes any sense to anyone. I know a call to my doc will only bring a week's worth of phone tag, so I'm asking here: is this a symptom of Fibro that many experience? Or does it sound more like a med reaction? Maybe it's the Salonpas I've tried? Hmmm........anyone know if camphor can remain in the body a long time? Any home remedies you've found helpful for itching?
