They are usually called an endocrine panel and include peptide C, FSH, and some other levels. My endocrinologist did this for me, but, I was already under the care of one. See if your GYN will do this for you, along with a full endocrine panel, as well. This should be covered by insurance, as it is part of a regular metabolic blood test. Guest guest
I would go!! After the weight loss you have had you have a very good chance of the clomid working. It is a little expensive, but worth it. I think it was like 60.00 a month when I took it because my insurance would not cover it, either. I know how much you want to get pregnant, I would just go. It took us 8 months on clomid to get pregnant. I will be thinking good thoughts for you. You deserve it. donna need advice > I have an appointment with my former ob/gyn on wed. Guest guest
Every month that you are on Clomid you need to have an ultrasound down to see if the Clomid has allowed you to produce any eggs. Then you are normally given a progesterone shot to release the eggs -- if the Clomid has allowed you to produce any -- and then you have sex that night. Though sometimes you are told to give the shot at home, have sex, and then bring a sample into the office which they will inseminate you with. But every month you should definitely have an ultrasound to see if Clomid is stimulating -- or overstimulating -- the ovaries in order to allow you to produce/release eggs. Rasley mailto:drasley@... Guest guest
, One thing you can do is check yourself. By this I mean get up close and personal with your lower regions and check your mucous down there. If you have mucous of egg white consistency that is a good clue that you are ovulating. This is not trying to be crude but the easiest way to determine what your mucous is like down there is to actually use your hands. You will see mucous on toilet paper but may not be able to determine its consistency. Also, you know how to count your days right? Day 1 is the first day of continuous flow on your period. Day 2 is the second day. Between days 11 and 16 is when most women ovulate. Some women spot at this point of time too. But between those days you should see your mucous change. When you do clomid it isn't just the expense of clomid you have to consider. You also have to realize -- as I said in a previous note -- that ultrasounds and sometimes intrauterine insemination go with that. Which insurance may or may not cover. I've been there, done that and wish you luck. As for testing of PCOS, what symptoms do you have? Do you have facial or other hair growth (chest, tummy)? Absence of menstrual cycles? Unexplained weight gain around your midsection? Acne? Pain in your abdomen (actually ovaries)? Rasley mailto:drasley@... Guest guest
Depends on what type of ultrasound. vaginal (which is probably what you would have) can be $100 a piece. Through the tummy ultrasounds like during pregnancy are billed to my insurance at $188. Most months I only needed one ultrasound so figure about $170 for the ultrasound and Clomid (depending on how many Clomid you need to take -- they were about $5-$10 a piece when I took them three years ago) plus another $10 or so for the shot. All in all $200 a month for the cheapest in infertility. I am not trying to be a downer but just let you know about the costs. As for adoption -- it depends on what kind of adoption you are looking into. State adoptions are normally of older children (not infants) but are the cheapest. In Ohio you can adopt a child from foster care for less than $1000 -- you pay for the home study, fingerprints and a few other minor expenses and the state pays the rest. Newborns/infants through private adoption are expensive comparatively and can run into tens of thousands. (Tried adoption once upon a time too but that is another story.) Rasley mailto:drasley@... Guest guest
So then there must be several ultrasounds during the cycle to see how big they are and when they are mature enough to give the HCG. Sounds very exspensive anyone have a ball park figure on the cost of one ultrasound? thanks for the info. It's so hard to know what to do cause we have to safe money for an possiable adoption too. Guest guest
I never had to do this. I only had to use an ovulation predictor to see if I was ovulating with the Clomid, which I was. You can adopt children under 5 relatively easy, atleast in Texas. They also continue all medical insurance and offer college scholarships if the child was adopted from the foster care system in Texas. We are licensed foster parents and see it all the time. Feel free to ask me anything. The state also pays for the home0study, criminal background, everything. There is no expense to the family. donna
Guest guest
I was only seen once a month, but no ultrasounds or anything like that. I think that each Dr. is different in what they do to monitor you. Plus it probably depends on what level of medication you are eon. I had to take Clomid, Dexamethasone and prolactin for the 8 months I was on it. I had to use an ovulation predictor test the first month and then nothing after that. When I went in for my 8 month check up , he said he was going to start working on another plan of action because I had not gotten pregnant, but when he did the pelvic exam, said he was wrong because I was pregnant then. So, each Dr, has there own way of doing things , it seems! donna need advice > > > > > >> I have an appointment with my former ob/gyn on wed. I new it would take > >> weeks to get in. Guest guest
Just a suggestion, I haven't tried them, but I think I've seen these bracelets that you can wear that are supposed to put pressure on certain points on your wrist that help keep you from having motion sickness. I don't know if they're for real, but it would certainly be a non-pharmacological solution if they do actually work. I've seen them in pharmacies and health-food stores, I think. Ask around. Another option would be to find someone else who would be willing to go with your husband! haha -Kris - Need Advice Hi Friends: I need your advice. Guest guest
My daughter used to have really bad car sickness. I mean, she would even throw up on a short trip to the grocery store. I bought her some of those sea-bands, and her car sickness was much less when she wore them. I don't know if it is physical or psychological, but it did seem to work. Other things I would suggest are, wear sunglasses. I know the glare of the sun off the water always give me a headache and makes me feel queasy. Wear sunscreen and protective clothing. And, bring a drink, or some cold water to sip continuously. The sun and wind can dehydrate you easily, and that will increase the nausea. Good Luck.
