Practicing Eating What I Really Want

It's still a struggle for me to believe it's all right to eat

whatever I want when ever I am hungry. Eating what I really really

want has been such a no no all my life and I'm almost 55 that it's

still sometimes a struggle for me. I have to remind myself

that " naturally slender " people eat whatever they want each time they

get hungry and still stay slender. Therefore, I can eat whatever I

want as long as I'm hungry and still stay small.

I had a great experience of practicing it last night. At about 3:15

yesterday afternoon my tummy started growling and I wanted to go get

grocieries before going home for dinner. At this moment I am reading

Hirschmann's Overcoming Overeating so my IE/naturally slender mind

said you're hungry what do " you " want, so I thought and came up with

cashews and dates two of my favorites. So I went to Freds and got

them and set in the car eating them slowly paying attention to how

they tasted so I would know when to stop. I wanted to stop when they

lost there " yumminess " . When they started to taste like just food I

stopped eating.....it was a little difficult but I knew I could eat

more when I got hungry again. When I got home my dh asked why I was

not eating dinner and I said I had a little something earlier because

I was hungry and was waiting to get hungry again. I got hungry again

about 8 and finished off the dates and most of the cashews. (I did

share the cashews with dh.)

Now it's morning and I want eggs and fruit for breakfast. And I feel

ok about my little adventure last night........just not totally

convinced I can stay small eating like this. But it sure would be fun

if I can.

My sister is a naturally slender/IE eater and she's very small. She

is very good at only eating when she is hungry but she does eat a lot

sometimes........but then it's longer before she eats again........so

it all works out.

Thanks for being here for me as I ride this excitingly/scary

rollercoaster.
