Guest guest
Hi everyone, To begin with, I'm not a lazy person. I started to house clean my spare room today. I know it's kind of early but, my mom might be moving in with us ( thats another story). Of course the windows have to be done. I still have to look up, as the ladder isn't high enough, I've done this many times before, after my surgery. I did the first window fine, the next one did it! As I reached up over my head my arms started to shake, I put my arms down and my hands continued to shake for a good half an hour. Has anyone ever had this happen? Could the chiari have caused it? I had surgery in '96'. They made the opening wider, so the brain stem wouldn't block the fluid from going to the brain. That's exactly how the first surgeon explained it, I'm not joking! So now I'm having my second surgery in early Dec. I think this nsg is doing what should have been done to begin with. Sorry to be so dumb on the medical terms. Does anyone know what the med. term would be for the first surgery? Please let me know about the shaking hands. They're still doing it a little. Of course the head is started. It must have had something to do with the chiari, because my head is starting to pound. Hugs, Sharon in Baltimore P.S. I've learned more from the group than I did the nsg!! Thanks for being there! Guest guest
Dear Sharon, I have the hand shaking symptom which you are talking about. It has started this year. First of all, I feel like I'm losing muscle control over my whold hand, both of them and shoulders included. I'm having my surgery next month to decompress. I went to visit my mom in the hospital the other day and I had a drink with me. Every time I would lift up the drink to bring it closer to my mounth, my hand would start shaking. My mom couldn't believe it either. It freaked me out... I saw the doc lately and he told me that it is probably chiari related. Sharon, what is the surgery for that you're having now? I don't know if your first surgery was called decompression surgery (I'm sure there's a specific medical name for it) but or you having the same type of surgery? My doc told me that my symptoms are probably chiari related. Would this symptom then clear up after surgery? Why are you having this problem if you already had the decompersson surgery? I am confused. Sharon, I already have 3 shunts. I hope this surgery will cure a lot of my symptoms because if it won't, I hate to do this sort of major surgery and still be in square one. Pretty soon, I won't have anyplace else to cut me, in my head. All the spots are taken... I've recenlty been dx with chiari and it's still new to me and trying to learn a lot. I have had pseudo tumor cerebrai and hydrocephelus for 6 years now. By the way, I'm not a lazy person either but have been always on the go. These days, all my energy is completely out the window. I can barely cook a meal. I'm so tired of all this. Oh well...I promised I would be positive today. Sharon, thanks for sharing. Please write back soon so that we can compare notes. Have a super day and I hope you're feeling better. Leanda in California. Revil3294@... wrote: > > Hi everyone, > To begin with, I'm not a lazy person. I started to house clean my spare > room today. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, My hand shaking has been getting worse. This was one of my " newest " sx before I had my decompression. I had brought it up to my nsg and he didn't feel it was related. Well, after surgery it had stopped. I made sure to bring it up to my nsg and all he could say was maybe surgery helped a lot of things......duh..... anyway, since my sx have returned my hand & head shaking has been getting worse. When I bring it to anyones attention they just say it is anxiety.....hhhhmmmm. I guess the best way for me to describe the shaking is I feel like deep in my arms, legs, head, etc feels like it is quivering. Kind of like when you're nervous. I don't know, it's just hard to explain. Is this what you're feeling, or is it just another psychotic episode?! Love, G in Idaho 12/99 decomp 1/00 repair csf leak & staph 2/00 all sx returned, some w/ a vengence would never know I had surgery if it weren't for the zipper & bad hair cut! TIRED!!!!!!!! > > Hi everyone, > To begin with, I'm not a lazy person. I started to house clean my spare > room today. Guest guest
Dear , I was also telling Sharon that I have been going through this as well. Last couple of months, I have been noticing extreme weakness in both of my arms. Things I normally do without an effort has changed. Now, it takes effort. I play sometimes backgammon and my hands get tired just to lift them to throw the dice. Then just recently I noticed, if I lift my arm up to a certain point, it starts to shake. It freaked me out. I'm only 41. My doc wasn't sure but he thought maybe it is related to Chiari. I'm doing surgery next month. I hope this symptom goes away....it better go away. I'm sorry we are all going through this. I hate these disorders for they are not common and we have to many issues which aren't answered and resolved. Sometimes even surgeries are 'guess work' and it's a gamble. Sending lots of hugs and well wishes, Leanda in California. Fred & Garza wrote: > > Hi Sharon, > My hand shaking has been getting worse.
