Kathleen:

I know exactly how you are feeling right now. I was in your situation a

year ago. Sometimes there's no comforting or magic words to say, but

just know that I'm thinking about you guys. I'm not a doctor, but I

really wouldn't worry too much yet about Abby " babbling " . A lot of the

RSS kids babbled for quite awhile and definately at Abby's age.

wasn't very good with his speech until after his g-tube and especially

after he got ear tubes. So just hang in there. Remember, some of the

RSS kids that were born premature and/or " very " small for gestation have

a longer way to go and catch up. They just need a lot of patience and

time.

I also strongly believe that the lack of nutrition has a big bearing on

their development. So if Abby is not taking in as much as she used to

as far as calories/nutrition, then she may not have the extra energy to

develop with her speech.

I'm only speaking from my own experience. But like I said, I feel for

you because we were in your spot a year ago and now you wouldn't even

know how stressful things were back then by looking at now! So

things do get better.

Take care,

Stacie
