Guest guest
My daughter is now 13 years old, and we discovered after years of glasses, Developmental and normal routine check-ups, vision therapy, she has a lazy eye as well. Putting a patch over the good eye is what the docs usually do. n a message dated 8/17/2008 2:18:20 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, elsamia20@... writes: Hi! Guest guest
If you are in broward county, you my want to call Craig Versil, he is a developmental eye specialist and very good with kids. He might be able to help. When my son experienced this, (before we met Dr. Versil), we were told to put a patch over the 'good' eye for an hour or two per day and let the lazy eye work. I don't know if you would want to try this without consulting your doctor first, or not.Subject: lazy eye hel p pleaseTo: sList Date: Sunday, August 17, 2008, 11:35 AM Hi! Guest guest
Have your child see a Behavioral Optometrist. Eye issues are always issues related to the liver. You could give him some drops everyday of milk thistle. BadilloLooking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Guest guest
Hi Elsa, I am an Occupational Therapist and I have worked with many children who have a lazy eye. It is not very common, but it can be improved. You really need to assess what visual areas are affected. I am sure the doctor will recommend your child where a patch for so many hours a day to help increase the use of the muscle of the eye that is not doing it's job at this time. You may want to present items on the opposite side of where the lazy eye tends to stray and continue to do so with as many types of things as you can. Maybe with food mostly on the opposite side, toys in all areas around your child but the favorites at the point where your child really has to focus and use the eyes together. What you want to do is to keep your child's eye moving in the same plane together not allowing the other eye to stop working. If you have a pirate patch you can place it over the non-lazy eye while you have one-on-one play time so you can really observe the eye movements, you are basically going to be exercising the eye muscle that is not working enough. I hope these ideas help. I am not sure which Dr you are seeing, but I do know that Dr. Mazur in Weston and the Nova campus have specific programs that help with various visual problems. Your child may be too young but I am not 100% sure when they start visual therapy. The Dr. may recommend some other therapy. Best of luck.
