Overcoming Overeating

I am reading Hirschmann's book overcoming overeating and in it there is

an exercise, where the goal of the exercise is to get hungry as often

as possible during the course of the day.

I'm playing with this exercise this weekend. Hence, whenever I am

hungry the idea is to only to eat a small amount so I will get hungry

again soon. Some times it almost makes me feel like I'm going to have a

heart attach LOL (talk about over reacting) if I stop eating when I'm

just a little bit full. And the heart attach intensity seems to be in

direct proportion to how much I love what I'm eating. I guess my

old " diet mentality " of last supper is alive and well and trigger by

feeling if it's a yummy food we had better eat all we can get our hands

on because it will probably be years until we can have it again. The

learning for this exercise is to increase my understanding of what

hunger feels like for me. And practice eating small yummy amounts of

food knowing I can eat another yummy small amount again as soon as I

get hungry again.

I got up about 5:15 did not know if I was hungry or not and I usually

don't eat until between 6 and 7 so I decided to wait. A few minutes

later my tummy growled at least I think it did, I decided to wait for

another growl to make sure and a few minutes later its sister showed

up. So I just finished a small breakfast. Now I will go get busy with

fun stuff until my tummy lets me know its hungry again. I also have

some fantastic mediation tapes I listen to when the mouth hunger voices

become too compelling. I will keep you posted. What a exciting and

sometimes scary adventure IE is for me.
