Though her NSG said that she can still experience periods of high presssure - which might mean that the periods of high pressure may be more positional or related to certain activities. One thing that I've mentioned before, back in August when had her shunt externalized, I was able to watch the amount of CSF that drained. When lay on her shunt side, she had significantly smaller amounts of spinal fluid to drain that when she layed on her right side. That made me think that if she layed on that side for an entire night, it wouldn't be surprising for her to have a headache upon wakening from the fluid not draining properly for many hours. Guest guest
Seems how I have responded privately to these a couple of times, here it goes to the list: > 1. Has anyone with Chiari had a lumbar puncture deemed to be normal or lower than normal? I had a LP done in 1997 when my symptoms were really bad, but my shunt was working well for my hydrocephalus, so my pressure was normal. > 2. Can lumbar puncture be used to measure Intracranial Pressure? Yes, along with many other tests. Dr. Kula took 30 cc's of csf to test different things from substance P to checking for infection. > 3. Does having Chiari mean you have high Intracranial Pressure? No, you can have normal icp if you have chiari. Kathleen
