Guest guest
This is a great idea, especially if the teacher is receptive. You might even want to make several photo copies of the puzzle piece ribbon (you could draw an original yourself) for the kids to color; or take some stickers of the ribbon for the kids and tell them if they listen to you speak they will get one. In my experience, the kids really understood, and helped my child. There are always going to be people who won't want to be near our kids, or who may on occassion say things that aren't nice, but that is the way of the world and our kids will eventually have to go out into the world and deal with it. Although, while in kindergarten it is nice to limit the negative experiences. GraceSubject: KindergartenTo: sList Date: Saturday, August 23, 2008, 10:59 AM Our son just started Kindergarten in a typical class. I was wondering if anyone who has already gone through this has done the following: Made arrangements with the teacher to go into the class and speak with the other children. Explain to them on their level a little about what autism is and that our son is affected by this. Explain to them how he may need their help sometimes. Any thoughts?
