Guest guest
Hey all, Ok, I've been reading the posts about docs who think we are crazy. I too have had the experience with doctors telling me its anxiety go see a psychiatrist. Isn't it funny that they say this when you are running a 160 heart rate and you and they don't know why so they tell you you are anxious. Well of course your anxious your heart is going a million miles a minute that is just a normal physical reaction to it. Its just plain stupidity on their part to assume that everyone is a psycho case. I'm to the point where I've said no thank-you and left the office for good. I have the chance to start over since I have new ins and new docs. I'm considering even starting over with all this diagnosis stuff or just say that I have the films here that say Chiari but haven't had any follow up because of ins change. Part of it is true at least. The only doctor who seems knowledgable about anything is my GYN but her hands are tied because of my current ins. Thank God she is on my new plan. I for one do not understand why doctors want to put people on antidepressents and close the case. Let me put it this way. We are the patients, we know what we are going through and we know we are not crazy. Yes we might be a little depressed and yes we might me a little anxious but look at it from where we are coming from, we are frustrated and looking for answers. Certainly not crazy and needing to be treated like a child. I won't be belittled by some doc messing with my mind or my body. They do not understand my condition, they need to say so. I personally do not believe in a bunch of the psychiatric stuff out there, Sure I believe that some people really do need it and it helps them but not in the long term for the rest of your life thing and not everyone and their grandmother. Its a band aid fix to a large wound that really needs stitches. The problem is going to get worse until proper treatment is rendered. Hmm sounds a lot like Chiari. Chiari is a physical problem not a psychiatric one just look at the MRIs. Hmm maybe doctors are misinterpreting the spelling and the meaning of physical and psychiatric! They are spelled similar but they most certainly are not similar! If you are on any of these psychiatric meds, question it as to why and if you don't agree don't take them. And if your doctor wants to put you on them question the reason. These meds can and do irrepairable harm to people on them if they are not necessary. They can cause more problems than what they were meant to help. Many times its just not worth it. I also recommend that when you go to the doctor frequently bring a support person along someone who understands what is going on with you and to help deter the doctor from this unnecessary psycho garbage. The doctor is less likely to go there when they can see your competent support people. For some reason they just don't buy it as well when you say there are people you can depend on and they are not there. It is ludicrous but it works. You've got to play the game in order to beat them at it. If I have offended or insulted anyone by this post. I am sorry and I certainly did not intend to, my only intention has been to speak my mind and opinion of observations I have seen.
