Guest guest
Why don't you call Ocean Hyperbaric? They have trained physicians and technicians. They are very nice and they have hard chambers. They always check to make sure they are o.k. to go in the chamber. If 2 people go in the chamber they only charge you for one. They also give a discount if you buy 20 or more dives. Having done both the soft and hard chambers I feel if you are going to pay for it, it is better to go for the hard chamber. Just my opinion.AlwaysAna Brushingham Subject: Re: Re: hbotTo: sList Date: Wednesday, July 16, 2008, 6:18 PM Is this a hard or soft chamber? ------------ -- Original message ------------ -- From: "celesteleo2725" <celesteleo2725@ yahoo.com> Dr Zeno has a hyperbaric chamber at her facility in Davie, Fl7450 Rd, Suite 250. Guest guest
Soft chamber, it can go up to 1.5 ATA. Also if you get 20 dives + the cost for each dive will be $75 and 40+ the price will be $60 each. Guest guest
I would call the better business bureau and report them. They can help you reach an agreement or advise you where to get help. You deserve your money back along with an apology!! Subject: HBOTTo: deniseslist Date: Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 10:00 PM I wanted to thank all that wrote to me regarding their experiences with the HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy). I had done 28 dives with both of my sons and never had a probelm. I had a terrible experience at a local HBOT clinic in Broward County. I have looked at other HBOT centers based on the recommendations from people on this list. When my son feels better, I will begin at one of these places. My son developed an ear infection but the people operating the Chamber did not check his ears thoroughly first and put him in the chamber. He was screaming from the pressure and pain but they continued to say they thought it was a "behavior". He came out after about 45 minutes. He was seen by his pediatrician and he developed a sore throat, fever, etc as well as an ear infection. He was put on antibiotics (amoxicillan) which made him very hyper and agitated. We then did some testing to learn he had a lot of yeast in his gastrointestinal tract. He became very sick from this. I asked for a refund because this center asks you to prepay for a week of dives. The owner refused to refund me for the time we could not go into the chamber. She also charged me for the day my son was in the chamber for thirty minutes screaming. She owed us for three days and basically just gave us only one. We paid out of pocket because our insurance does not cover HBOT.

Guest guest
Hi Group, We went to the Hope Center and had no results after 10 dives. As we had already done ten dives at a center out of town and seen nothing we decided to spend our money elsewhere. We were told our insurance would most probably pay but they did not. The tech at the Hope center was a very caring person and she did check their ears before the dives. I spoke to many people and didn't meet the ones that had success. I did see Hope on Comcast TV and she said most of their clients have remarkable results and the children start talking! I'm glad your child did but that was not our experience. -------------- Original message -------------- FOR YOUR BETTER INFORMATION.... MY DAUGHTER IS 3 YEARS OLD AND IS SERVERLY AUTISTIC. SHE DIVED 40 TIMES AT THE SOUTH FLORIDA CENTER FOR HOPE, WHICH WAS BY THE THOUGHT OF MY PARENTS TO BE A FRUITLESS TREND THAT NO ONE WOULD BENEFIT FROM. TO MY SATISFACTION SHE WAS MADE VERY COMFORTABLE AND REASSURED OF HER SAFETY, AS WAS I. THEY TREATED MY SITUATION AND MY FAMILY AS IF WE WERE FAMILY OF THEIR OWN AND WITH THE HIGHEST RESPECTS AND SENSITIVITY. THEY WERE VERY DILIGENT IN THE MONITORING OF DYLAN WHILE SHE WAS IN THE CHAMBER AND MAKING SURE THAT HER HEALTH WAS STABLE ENOUGH TO GO INTO THE CHAMBER, CONTRARY TO OTHERS CLAIMS. THEY CHECKED HER EARS EVERY VISIT BEFORE AND AFTER THE DIVES, TOOK HER TEMP AND TREATED HER AS IF THEY HAD BEEN CARING FOR HER SINCE BIRTH! THE TECH EVEN WENT AS FAR AS TO BR ING IN HER OWN MOVIES FOR MY KID TO WATCH AND EVEN CHANGED THE MOVIE OVER 10 TIMES IN ONE DIVE SIMPLY TO COMFORT DYLAN AS BEST SHE COULD. I WITNESSED THE TECH PLAYING GAMES WITH DYALN TO SOOTHE HER, WHEN SHE HAD NO IDEA I WAS WATCHING. THE LEVEL OF COMMUNICATION THAT THIS FACILITY BROUGHT OUT OF MY DAUGHTER IS AMAZING. Guest guest
Every child will react different to HBOT, we have at the center children that did less tahn 20 dives and we can see already remarkable results, and we have children taht are on their 80 or 100 dives and the results are minimum. Also what we notices is that the children taht are on a combination of HBOT with biomedical and therapy (like ABA, speech, occupational) do much more better than the ones that are doing only HBOT and basic supplementation. Now, tehre are rules to HBOT, one is if the child has a nose obstruction (it can be becuase is congested or has a cold), or if the child has blockage in his/her ears or very red ears, tehn taht child can not go in the HBOT. Another important rule is taht if the child has strepto...he/she can not go in the HBOT becuae strept will grow more becuase of the exposure to oxygen. HBOT should be prescribed by a medical doctor, it is a prescribing treatment. No child should go into the hyperbaric chamber without a doctor's approval. Guest guest
I will just say that I hope nobody ever has to go through what I went through at the HOPE center where my child had an ear infection, which was not checked thoroughly obviously and we ended up with a lot of problems, antibiotics, yeast overgrowth, behaviors and a bill from the HOPE center for the visits we did not have as well as the one we did have in which my son was screaming for 20 minutes for the staff to tell me it was a behavior. I have twin boys with autism and they have been to that center for 28 dives with no problem and there did seem to be some improvement with one of my sons, but it didn't seem to stick. The staff was very nice and pleasant while I was there, during the 28 dives. This incident happened this summer and my husband and I were very, very upset about what happened to our son and the money we lost. I even have doctors notes saying that my son can no longer be in the chamber due to fluid and and ear infection.&nb sp; My husband spoke to HOPE the owner and she refused to refund the entire money spent for time we couldn't be there. She also wanted me to bring my other son, 's twin, , because he was fine. However, I had nobody to stay with in the chamber while was home sick, screaming and crying, with fever, etc. It is unfortunate that the red ear was overlooked by my son, but the monetary part was ridiculous! I guess unless you are in the situation, you really can't relate. I really didn't want to get into naming names or putting blame on people, but since it's already out there, I guess let the truth be told. -------------- Original message -------------- Every child will react different to HBOT, we have at the center children that did less tahn 20 dives and we can see already remarkable results, and we have children taht are on their 80 or 100 dives and the results are minimum. Guest guest
, On the average ten dives are not enough to show results on certain children with autism. By Hyperbaric terms that is just a drop in the bucket. CP children do on an average 150 to 300 dives, TBI patients 200 to 300 and autism 80 to 150. This many dives are not done consecutively but usually over a period of possibly years. That might seem unreasonable because of the cost factor, but in many cases insurance companies are paying for autism but not under an autism diagnosis - usually anoxic encephalopathy which is lack of oxygen in the brain. You need a very savvy experienced HBOT insurance person who knows how to work the insurance companies and a PPO plan. I know one person in South Florida who fits that description and that is Connie at Hyperbaric Services of the Palm Beaches on the premises of Delray Medical Center http://www.hbotxofpalmbeach.com/ Badillo It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Guest guest
Another important point for the parents that get the treatment with their children...Ask the doctor, nurse or technician to check your ears too. Sometimes the children are fine, but the parents are not, so make sure that while you are trying to help your children you take care of yourself too, specially if you have a history of ear infections, your ears bother you a lot in the plane or if you use the pool a lot (specially now in teh summer) > > , > > On the average ten dives are not enough to show results on certain children > with autism.
