Hiya, Jane.

The only thing like that that I have used is Lightlife's Smart Ground; it's

soy " crumbles " that can be used as hamburger (but not for patties or

meatloaf). It is fairly good. My husband, who would NOT eat it if he knew he

was eating it, even liked the dishes I made with it (lasagna and chili). The

dishes tasted a little bit different and I just attributed it to the spices.

And Welcome from one who often does not acknowledge the newcomers. And I

apologize for that. I hope you just jump in and continue to share and talk

with us.

Hi Jane,

I use the hamburger flavored " Gimme Lean " soy protein in chili, spaghetti

sauces and casseroles all the time. No problems for me, but some of my

beef-eating friends aren't crazy about the texture. Funny, I now feel the same

way about ground beef.

Jane,

I often read my emails in clumps and if I jump in and answer something, then by

the time I get to the end of 'em, it's just redundant, so scuse me for ignoring

you!

Our doc's office recommends those vegetarian things as a healthy food, however

we don't count them as protein. They are FOOD, which requires a stomach to break

down. You'll get some absorption, but how much? 20%? 30% 50%? And that's today.

How much next spring and 3 years later? Better to get all your protein in a

counted, measured way, then enjoy the healthy eating, TOO. If you get more,

well, GREAT, as RNY can't really GET too much protein.

Thanks,

Welcome Jane!

I got some of the texturized soy protein burgers after I healed and went

through some time of solid food eating. Sometimes my pouch liked it and

other times it was not happy at all. I think it may be individual.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks for the site Maureen! I'm bookmarking it. I've been trying some new stuff lately, and this will help me figure out what I'm looking for. My last adventure was spaghetti squash. :) I never thought I'd eat it in a million years, but It was very good!

Thank you sooooo much Maureen. This is a cool site! I've never tried them so I guess I will. It's for a salsa that goes with filet mignon. If I can find the energy I may make them tonight.
