The only possibly legal balsamic vinegar that I know of is the very, very

expensive Italian stuff. You would have to write to the company, and get

a letter from them, on their company letterhead, hand-signed (you are

unlikely to get a " hand written " one since everyone uses

computers these days, but you can get one hand-signed) stating that no

sugars or sweeteners of any type, or any starches, are added to

it.

Hello Marilyn,

Here is the email answer I received from the company making that vinegar:

" Dear Bourouba,

We add absolutely no sugar to our vinegar. The vinegar is made with concentrated

grape

must, which means boiled down juice from the grapes.

Thank you for your interest in our products.

Take care,

info@... "

Assuming this is the truth about this product, would that particular balsamic

vinegar be

Legal? In other words is " boiled down juice from grapes " legal? It is made in

Modena in

Italy by the way.

Thank you

I would not want to chase it down by writing if I already kwew it is illegal.

That is why I am asking here first.

The only sure thing is to make the products ourselves - that is for sure. So you

really know

what is in it.

I'll just forget about basalmic vinegar for now and get back to my investigation

in one year

if I still want or need to find out.

concentrate

part would make it illegal until you found out who made the concentrate and what

they

put in it. It's a drag but you have to chase everything down. This company

could say they

add nothing but who knows what the people add that sell them the products that

go into

them. Katy
