Welcome Danna!!! I also enjoyed hearing your story. We all have

WONDERFUL kids that have gone (and are going through) a lot, yet they

seem to be more adjusted than most of us adults! ha. ha. Aren't they

just great!

Hello Danna,

I / We have all felt all alone with our RSS issues. This group is OUTSTANDING.

Our daughter, is almost nine. This type of networking and support did

not exist when she was an infant. The information and compassion shared within

this group is invaluable. I am thankful for the Magic Foundation and this RSS

group. It has sparked a lot of thought and facilitates sharing and compassion.

Welcome and you are not alone!!!

Hi, My name is Danna Payne I have a three year old son who has RSS. His

name is , he is a very active little fellow. He weight about 20 pounds and

he eats pretty good. We know of no one else who has RSS and I have really

enjoyed reading everyones E-mail I don't feel so alone any more.

has just underwent the second of two Hypospadias surgeries and

tomorrow we take him back to Chattanooga to see his Dr. [abuot a two hr. drive

].We live in a little town in the Mtns of North Ga.

I also sempithize with Debbi and how people react when they find out how

old our children are, for months I felt like just having a card printed giving

all the stats for RSS so I woldn't have to explain to everyone why he is so

small. I'm very proud of my son as I'm sure you all are of yours. I have seen

my son do outstanding things and I don't think his size will hold him back.

I want to thank you all for reading my introduction and I will keep all of

you in my prayers.

Thanks

Hi ! Welcome! I just wanted to respond to your post. I had wls

10-11-99 and within one month started having regular periods for the first

time in my life. I am now 5 mo's pregnant with my first child. (took about

10 months after surgery to pregnant but we really weren't trying ) I know

if I hadnt had surgery I would not have been able to have children so the

answer is YES it does work and very fast (at least for me!) My starting

weight was 285 and I am now 180. I have actually lost a couple of pounds

since becoming pregnant. I don't know much about pcos as I was never

diagnosed with it. I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses here about it.

Good luck and congrats on your anniversary!

Hi ! You might be surprised... sometimes your PCOS improves or

even disappears when you lose the weight... you may not need fertility

drugs. Of course, it isn't always so, but sometimes it is.

Hello Kris!

Thanks for the welcome! It's funny you mention that...I've had 3

spontaneous periods since surgery. The first one was about 3 weeks

post-op, so it was easy to dismis as being caused by surgery. The

last two, though, were March and April, jsut about 28-30 days apart.

I'm hopeful because I have NEVER started my period without drugs!!!

I've started charting my BBTs and am using an ovulation predictor

kit. I figure the more I have documented...the better off we'll be

come September.

Do you have PCO?

Thanks again,

Yes, I have PCO as well. Mine spontaneously resolved after surgery, and

I became pg at 1 year post-op and delivered a healthy baby boy in 1999.

Since then I have regained weight and my PCO has reappeared. I'm in the

beginning stages of looking into getting a revision from my VBG up to a

BPD/DS.

Deb,

I completely empathize with you. Our daughter was recently dx'd

with " personality disorder with strong BPD traits " . She is 13.

Reading your post was amazing! Our daughters seem to be very

similar, right up to this point. The only major difference is she

doesn't seem to have any gender identity questions.

It is such a relief to know that we are not alone. Isn't it really

surprising that the stuff they chose to argue about is the small,

inconsequential BS that is all we had was a simple, honest, straight

answer, it'd be over with? My daughter is now in short term

inpatient care and likely to come home tomorrow. Having been further

down the road than us, it was a bit scary to read your story,

especially since we have been warned to expect worse behavior down

the road. EEK!

You need to know you are not alone... Even our family turned on us

on this one- they can't understand why we would take such a sweet

innocent little girl like my daughter in for a psyc eval. When we

tell them why, they simply don't believe it! It's very lonely. At

least now we can work on learning to manage the BPD.

Take care and hope to hear from you again!

therapist straight on the truth. She had a theme going for awhile that we were

alcoholics and dad was abusive. NOT! Her current therapist won't take her

crap. She told Lydia in front of me that it is family therapy and she will be

Dear Sandy,

You have raised some very good questions and I am looking forward to

anyone elses responses. I have self-diagnosed celiac and just started

SCD over a month ago. What got me really curious about it was reading

the article on BTVC that talked about the cure for celiac. And, of

course, there is that same chapter in the book. If you haven't read

that I highly recommend it.

Basically I think it is a leaky gut that has really messed up the

immune system. I ran into an article just before starting this diet

that seemed to say all auto-immune diseases were stemmed from a leaky

gut. It kinda makes sense to me, but I don't know a whole lot about

it.

As far as getting contaminated . . . I live in a very contaminated

home, but I have my own kitchen in a separate trailer. The biggest

problem I faced, and I know there are a lot of people that might

disagree with this, was the wheat field growing in our garden. I

clearly had a celiac reaction to this and actually had quite a battle

with it this summer as the wheat field grew back a second time

without us noticing until it was bothering me.

With that in mind . . . is there any chance your son is breathing

gluten? Are there any wheat, barley, or rye fields in your area?

Wishing you the best and hoping you get this figured out. I know it's

no fun.

Try to find out more about the cheese slices. Often starch is used to

keep cheese from sticking when it is sold sliced. Our deli separates

cheese slices with paper.

Make sure it is SCD legal vanilla. I use Frontier brand either the

one with alcohol or the one with glycerin. Lucy sells it. So does

Whole Foods. Better yet, make your own by immersing a cinnamon stick

in Vdka and letting it ferment for six weeks.
