Deb, I'm not sure of that brand but does it have any carbs in it? Friendship brand can be bought over the internet or you could do what I did and ask your grocery store to supply it. Dry Curd Cottage Cheese is what it stands for. Katy

I just ordered some from The Swiss Connection. They ship it to you, it's about $4/lb. Their's is raw though....however, I don't eat this stuff uncooked, I always bake with it or use it sauteed in meals so this shouldn't be a problem. I've heard wonderful things about it, this is my first time ordering.Their number is: AddieUC 8 years.SCD 2 weeksSanta Cruz, Ca.pkysma wrote: Hi everyone, Just started the

One I saw was gold in color and looked a little grainy, and others looked more like a block of mozzarella - smoother and light yellow in color. Yesterday I found one at Whole Foods that looked like a big ol' soft white cottage cheese curd. It was also labeled farmer's cheese and is the Lifeway brand. (Friendship Dairy does not supply the Minneapolis area.) I bought the Lifeway one since it looked most like cottage cheese. Did I make the right choice? Is anyone out there in this area that knows of a good source? Thanks! Deb UC 28 yrs SCD Day 2

I think it is okay, it has very low carbs,

but am wondering why they name

it kefir farmer cheese since it doesn't seem to have

kefir in it. Anyway, here is the contact info, if anyone wants

to use it to be sure.

You were right not to buy the one that looked likemozarella at least:http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/farmers_cheese.htmThere are two types of cheese called farmers cheese. One is like dry curd cottage cheese, and the other is similar in consistency to Brick or Monterey Jack. The Farmer's cheese that is similar to Brick or Monterey Jack, is not legal.Hi everyone,Just started the diet yesterday, but despite posts on this and other sites, I'm still unsure of the DCCC. It looks as though I'll have to ask a grocery to special order it.

Having it shipped to me is too cost-prohibitive. What I bought has 4g

of carbs. Does it really need to be cooked? The intro diet that I've

been referring to on the breaking the vicious cycle site doesn't say

anything about cooking it.

Believe it or not, Rainbow Foods sells a brand called " Dean's " Dry Curd Cottage Cheese ... it is exactly like what's described in Elaine's book ... you'll find it in the section with regular cottage cheese in a similar container and it's label is kind of purple in color. They don't always have it in stock where I am, so you might call around to find out which Rainbow Foods has it in.

DCCC does not need to be cooked. I think the person was refering to hers being made with raw milk. Katy

Four grams of carbs in what size portion? I seem to recall that Lifeway

is too high in carbs for us. You want one that has less than 1, 0

preferred. My niece, who lives in Minneapolis, uses Deans.

Lifeway has 4 grams for 2 Tbsp. Maybe that's why it's so tasty! :-)

That's 2 votes now for Dean's brand. I'll look for that. Thanks.
