Re: The sigh

I must say, this is the first I have heard about " the sigh " ! I

just " Google-ed " it but didn't come up with anything about it. Does

anyone know where there is some information about it on the Internet?

For free? (Yeah, I am cheap.) :-)

I tried paying attention to it at dinner. I freaked when I sighed

after 2 bites, but I just read Sharon's post again, and she said that

some people sigh at the beginning of the meal AND after they have had

enough, so that explains the first sigh. After that first sigh, I was

hypervigilant, and pretty soon I was breathing in such a rapid and

shallow manner, I thought I might hyperventilate! LOL. So then I

decided to cool it and just let nature take its course and not pay so

much attention. And then, of course, I forgot to even notice.

So...looks like this could take me a while to figure out. But that's

okay, I know from my Intuitive Eating experience that I will tune in

eventually to what my body is doing in this regard

Interestingly, just a few nights ago, before I had read about " the

sigh " , my husband let out a big sigh after dinner. It was SO loud, I

said, " What was that about? Was that a sigh of contentment or what? "

He said, " I don't know. I think it just means I am full. " He just

knew that instinctively. Well, at least HE shouldn't have any problem

tuning in to HIS sigh.

I don't see why not (to post links) Sharon. And with luck, Gillian

I first read about the sigh in the McKenna forums but do not

have the exact page to link to. I also found blog entries on it

here:

http://myintuitivedailybread.blogspot.com/2007/03/sigh.html

http://cretive.wordpress.com/2007/11/09/satisfaction-sigh/

There is mention of it in other blogs and articles but I am unable to

get to the source of the info:

There is also more here:

intuitive-eating/252354

that is really interesting about your husband sighing and

realising it is a signal for him that he has had enough. I find the

whole process fascinating as I had no idea I sighed when I had had

enough and it amazes me that it's because I have been so out of touch

with my bodies signals.
