Nutrition plays a big part. Also, this happened to my sister a couple of years ago. The doctor determined that, when she was cutting grass and filled up the lawn mower with gas, she got the gas on her hand and scratched her head. The gas killed the cells in that area. It took almost a year, but her hair has finally grown back in. Maybe, she got some chemical on her scalp, like walking under something and it dripped on her. Hope this helps.

Marty, maybe another thing,she can be under stress, stress sends sometimes signs this way.

Another option, is parasites. Watch to see if she scratches her head a lot.
