Guest guest
Debrah, I had to have both the EMG and NCV redone when I was around 15. That's because the first time was so horrible and I freaked out and demanded we go home. That was at UCLA. Went to a private MD who seemed a very gentle man, and he redid the test, it was better, but I swore I'd never have it again. Last summer, my Internist wanted some baseline adult tests done, and guess what? In his list was a EMG/NCV. I gritted my teeth and went through with it. While I still 'felt' it, the technique is different, equipment is different, and the MD doing it was extremely knowledgeable, understanding and compassionate. It seems for me that when the MDs were doing the tests, it went better than 'technologists'. And after all this, my EMG/NCV is completely within the 'normal' range and the MD even wrote in his report 'findings do not necessarily indicate CMT'! Go Figure! Hope this helps! ~Gretchen
