Eli Lilly is the sole world-wide manufacturer of rBGH – the artificial growth hormone given to dairy cows that has been linked to an increased risk of cancer in humans. However, Eli Lilly also produces cancer treatment and prevention drugs. It’s outrageous. They are profiting from cancer on every front. We’re asking 6,220 people - one person for every day that rBGH has been on the market – to send a message by September 24 to Eli Lilly loud and clear. Breast Cancer Action doesn’t back down from a challenge, which is why we’re delivering our message to Eli Lilly on a billboard! Join us, and make your voice heard in a very public way! Take one minute to complete the info below and tell Eli Lilly to Stop Milking Cancer. Lechleiter, Chairman, President and CEO, Eli Lilly , President, Elanco Animal Health We, the undersigned, join Breast Cancer Action in urging Eli Lilly to stop manufacturing and selling the artificial growth hormone rBGH (also known as rBST). We believe that Eli Lilly’s proud claims to care for our communities will only be legitimate when the company puts people before profits and eliminates rBGH. rBGH has been linked to an increased risk of cancer, including breast cancer. While it is very difficult to provide absolute proof that something causes cancer, available scientific data on rBGH was sufficient to provoke bans on the drug in the European Union, Canada, and several other countries around the world. Mounting evidence about the link between rBGH and cancer has even led large corporations like Starbucks and Wal-Mart to discontinue using fluid milk stimulated with it. Ignoring this and trusting Eli Lilly’s insistence that rBGH is safe is a gamble we’re simply not willing to take. As far as we know, there is only one entity that benefits from the use of rBGH - Eli Lilly. We are aware of Eli Lilly's profit cycle, increasing our risk of cancer with rBGH, while at the same time selling drugs to treat and “prevent†the very cancer rBGH is helping to create. This is not corporate responsibility. This is not caring for our communities. This is greed that’s endangering our health. Given that Eli Lilly made over $5,000,000,000 in the first quarter of 2010, we are not surprised that we have yet to receive any response or recognition of our concerns. We are fully aware that the road to eliminating rBGH is long, but we’re not going away. We will continue to raise our voices about this - for however long is necessary. We demand better. Prove to us and everyone else that you care about our health - stop manufacturing and selling rBGH.
