While toys are fun to play with, some can be toxic to our health. That's why I'm emailing you today. I wanted you to be one of the first to know that today CHEJ and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters are releasing our Toxic Toys "R" Us report. The report examines Toys "R" Us's safety practices and their use of PVC - better known as the "poison plastic." Studies have shown that chemicals released by PVC are linked to chronic diseases on the rise in children - learning disabilities, obesity, asthma, and even cancer. In 2008, Toys "R" Us promised to phase out the sale of toys containing certain toxic chemicals, reduce the sale of products containing PVC, and offer more PVC-free products. Our report shows that, despite their promise over two years ago, Toys "R" Us continues to sell an extensive amount of toys and infant products that are made of and packaged in PVC. Learn more about Toys "R" Us's broken promises in the report. Also find out how to keep the poison plastic out of your child's toy chest and understand how PVC in toys negatively affects your child's health, your family's health, and the health of those communities situated near PVC production plants. Download our guide to PVC-free products now. We hope the guide helps you make safe decisions for your family's health. Please consider making a donation to CHEJ to support our continued work to prevent harm from toxic chemicals in our homes and communities across the country. Your generosity helps us produce free reports like this one to help keep all children and communities safe from PVC and other toxic environmental threats.
