Guest guest
Hi Jodi, Just a quick word about compounding. Cant talk for every one but I had a problem with a medication that was made at a compound pharmacy, It was Prednisone with Acidophilus. For some reason it didn't work. I had got the prescription filled to help with a flare. When I felt the flare coming on, I used some of an old RX that was not compounded, by the next day I was much better. I only had enough for a week so thats when I went to the DR. to get a refill but asked if I could get it at a compound pharmacy. He agreed but was skeptical. I started the new RX that day, but I noticed that the old symptoms where creeping back despite use the medication. After 4 days and getting worst by the day I went back to the little of the original RX and by that night I was much, much better. I thought it was going to be a quick word. Guest guest
Lou, Compounded with acidolphilus? Yoicks! You were probably dumping mega-much of the good bacteria in. Flares can a resurgence of the bacteria, and lots of toxins. The acidophilus may have knocked off some of the resurging bacteria which resulted in more toxins. So of course you felt worse -- and there was that poor prednisone battling two levels of flare! When you have something compounded, you also have to ask what they're compounding WITH. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
