Hello everyone,

I'm new here and am really concerned. I got pregnant in December and ended

up having a miscarriage in February. In November, my mom had gastric bypass

surgery. I am only 22 and weigh nearly 300lbs, though to look at me it

doesn't look it. My doctor showed some concern for my weight problem during

my pregnancy and suggested that I " relieve myself of some of it " before

trying again. I was considering getting the gastric bypass surgery myself,

seeing how my mom has lost nearly 120lbs in 6 months and she looks and feels

great! But from what I know of being pregnant I am worried that having this

surgery now could somehow damage the children that I am planning to have. I

have tried diet plan after diet plan after diet plan and nothing has worked.

I try to exercise as often as possible, but with my hectic life that isn't

possible most often than not. I am wondering who out there has had a gastric

bypass surgery and then gone on to have healthy, normal pregnancies. My mom

has one woman in her support group who is currently pregnant, but its the

first time for this particular doctor to experience a pregnancy after surgery

since most of his clients are coming from more 40-ish aged women. Please

enlighten me on this?

Thank you,

Mischele
