I had a sleep study done before my diagnosis and although I don't

have

sleep apnea, I do have something called hypopnea. That is very

shallow breathing. So I don't actually stop breathing, just enough

to

cause what the sleep test calls an " arousal " I guess that means I

wake up. I had 61 incidences of arousal related to hypopnea in a 6

hour study. Wow! No wonder I'm tired. I wake up 10 times an hour

on average. The test also showed no level 3 or 4 sleep.

So I don't really have sleep apnea. Just hypopnea. In other words,

almost sleep apnea. And I don't really have chiari malformation.

Just hypoplastic posterior fossa. In other words, almost chiari

malformation. I hope, if I have the surgery, that it does more than

almost make me feel better.
