What brought the idea for this fund to mind was I know 2 parents on this list

who have really gone the extra mile fighting the good fight on behalf of their

child in terms of time, emotional energy and financial expenditures and I was

thinking to myself " wow they could really use a date " I really wish I could send

them on one.

Count me in Kent. I think you are referring to a couple that I am aware of and

they do not want go post what they are going through on any lists right now. If

you are talking about who I think you are...man, my heart does go out to them

right now! From being online and networking with parents for over eight years

now, I noticed that when things get truley bad (life stressors), they don't

post. But they do remain in my thoughts and prayers :)

We have a Sunshine fund at work. We use it for Birthday celebrations. There

have been times here on the list that I wish we had something..especially when a

child dies.

An Idea

Hi!

One of the special things about this list is that it provides a lot of

support for it's members. From time to time, folks on this list or their

children may go though a particularly difficult time. I was thinking it

might be cool to set up a sort of " Sunshine fund " whereby during difficult

times the fund could be used to send flowers, balloons to s sick child in

the hospital or even a gift certificate to a restaurant (Bennigans,

TGIF...) for parents who desperately need a break...

The fund would get it's cash flow through voluntary donations and could be

overseen by a board of say 4 - 6 volunteers. 1 treasurer and the other

members to take nominations and to reach consensus on whether a nomination

was adequately meritirious. There would of course need to be some

guidelines with regard to things like a cap per single expenditure...

What brought the idea for this fund to mind was I know 2 parents on this

list who have really gone the extra mile fighting the good fight on behalf

of their child in terms of time, emotional energy and financial

expenditures and I was thinking to myself " wow they could really use a

date " I really wish I could send them on one.

If folks like the idea lets make it happen. Right now I don't think I

would have the time to participate as anything other than to contribute

funds but I would love to see it come to fruition none the less.

What do folks think?

Take Care,

Kent

I think this is a swell idea! I'm afraid my contribution would be limited to

cash rather than time...:-)

Kent! That's an awesome idea.....count me in as well. What a wonderful way to

show a little extra support during those awful times.

I think tihs is a very good idea, the key would be to be able to fit persons

with different measurements not just the height and inseam, I would be

interested if you get this started.

an idea

I was wondering if any little people would be interested in clothes especially

made for little people. If I get enough interest I am planning on starting a

small company to do just that. I would have competitive prices, quality clothing

and a lot more research to do!

let me know what you guy think.

Sure, count me in! I usually read the obits anyway (to make sure I'm not

listed!) : ) I always wonder when I see an infant listed. There was one last

week in the paper, picture and all. It didn't list a cause of death (nothing

obvious like cancer, CF or anything).

Kay

****************

Good! I would like to send them the actual paper cuttings just for the effect

of it though. Can you imagine a box full of obits for them to read all

vaccine related? It may take us a while but lets get started OK? Anyone else?

All the best,

I Joan --

Actually, a year ago the GI specialist I saw for my ulcer told me that they're already working on such a product, but that it will likely be a decade or more until they work out all the kinks. (I travel out of state for my achalasia specialist, but see a local GI specialist for non-achalasia stuff.)

Merry Christmas to you too!

Hi Folks,

I have an idea - ours is a disease caused by nerves which no longer send messages to the oesophageal muscles. What we need now is a kind of "pacemaker" a gismo with a battery which will stimulate the muscles to work. Any inventor around?

Have a happy stress free Christmas!

Bev,

If this is something you would like to pursue please feel free to do so.

I won't be able to participate because I only have a cell phone with very

limited minutes on it. But others may enjoy this much more!

Would you be interested in organizing an event for ?

=)

Personally I find chat rooms sort of clunky, and I can't always get

them to work... especially right now when my computer is giving me

multiple kinds of grief. I want to mention something I found

recently that's really cool and FREE.

It's www.freeconference.com and " the organizer " of the chat gives out

a master number to call and a PIN number. Then anyone you tell about

it can call in (each participant pays the long-distance charge from

their phone, if any, but that's all), join in and REALLY chat. If I

knew there was one of those scheduled, I'd be much more motivated to

try and make it in on the conversation. You don't need a computer,

you just use a phone. I've even joined on on stuff using my cell

phone.

You can either set it up ahead of time, or do it spontaneously. You

might want to check it out.

,

I would like that! I have mental pictures of many of the people who post here,

curious as to how they match reality! Someone would have to maintain it, perhaps

it could be attached to the LL website and password protected (Rashelle?)....

You know what I think would be great? A file that we could have a little

scrapbook of pictures of everyone. It would be so nice to have a face to put

with

everyone's name.

What do you think?

That would be really fun!

Can't we just post our pictures in the photo section within the

group?

I would love to have you send me some photos to my lifelift email address so I

can have them posted to the group site.

It is fun to be able to put a face to a name.

Take care,

i was thinking that maybe we could all also post where we live,

maybe some of us live near

Fort , Colorado.

I have also posted a fairly detailed chronicle of my experiences with

Samter's. I hope everyone enjoys it (not that it makes for pleasant

reading material, though) and I hope to read how others have dealt

with their conditions, as well.

Tim, thanks for being the first to post your story. And what a story it is.

In terms of location, and doctors, and other basic info, let me remind all

members of our contact list in the DATABASE at

samters/database

and suggest they take the time to fill in the columns for themselves.

This allows a quick search by city, or meds, or whatever. As the stories

accumulate, this will be a quick way to find the people whose stories may be

of particular interest.
