According to the Alaska Department of Education Report (attached).

RIGHT NOW in 2008, Alaska's Special Education funding formula uses a cost factor of 5 for intensive needs children, which when multiplied by the base student allocation reaches a funding amount of ONLY $26,900 (i.e. $5,380 x 5) right now. See the attached report from Alaska's state government.

According to June Kronholz of the The Wall Street Journal, phone

Gov. Palin had no role in drafting the legislation that is supposed to to take effect in 2011 and increase to a $73,840 per student expenditure for special needs children in Alaska.

SAR - Schafer Autism Report SPENIDING ON INTENSIVE NEEDS CHILDRENWhen Palin took office in 2006 the state was spending $27,000 a yr. per-child.The budget she signed this year raised that funding to $49,000 per child. In 3 years the amt. will rise to $74,000 which is roughly equal to the yearly per-child cost of educating special needs children.Several other disability programs also rec'd increases. Palin shifted $1.25 million in state money to programs that provide social services. Edmands is a Democrat who sits on the Government Counsel on Disabilities and Special Education. She says that Palin was interested in these issues before Trig and had attended council meetings. Edmands is quoted as saying, "She won't just be supportive. She'll be an activist."

read carefully what is said about things like

" Gov. Palin had no role in drafting the legislation that is supposed to

to take effect in 2011 and increase to a $73,840 per student

expenditure for special needs children in Alaska. "

since she was the GOVERNOR she can have NO ROLE in crafting a bill.

this is another example of twisting our language to lie about the

record of individuals. Here in America governors dont draft

legistation, that is the exclusive role of the LEGISLATURE. she

certainly had to sign it if it was to become law.

be careful what you read. and read every word!!!

Advocates,

Please take all these posts with a grain of salt, unless you are reading posts from an objective political expert. Many are inaccurate or only tell half the story.

Take this one for instance:

FYI - Governors submit their proposed budgets to the Legislative leadership with their priorities before the session deadline for filing bills.

Since many Governors have line item veto powers when it comes to the budget, they often get what they request, otherwise the wishes of the legislators are vetoed.

As for me, I am thrilled that after almost 20 years, finally a pledge was made to the families of special needs children. How anyone can call her a liar is beyond me. Vetoing funding for special projects that only benefit a select few, to instead increase or triple the public school funding for all ESE children is not a cut to me.

I believe that she will help the special needs children, that is my priority, that is why I will vote for McCain Pailin.
