Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Realizing how much children with disabilities benefit from participating in social activities with children without disabilities, I have decided to start a group whose mission will be to create more inclusion opportunities in recreational activities for young children in our community. My son's diagnosis is autism but I am welcoming children with any disability. Our precious children are part of society and as such should be included (with adaptations and supports) in all activities they wish to be part of. With some work in our part we can make this a successful and beneficial experience for all. Segregation makes of our children second class citizens. It robs them from meaninful learning opportunities, opportunities to develop abilities and skills to their maximum potential, chances of making friends, and of enjoying life just like everyone else. If you are someone full of positive energy, willing to help me get this organization started, and have fun and make good friends while at it, please send me an email at idajkessler@... I want our first meeting to be this month, preferrably within the next two weeks. Don't sell yourself short by thinking " But how could just one person make a difference? How can I help? " We all have something to contribute and that includes you! Throughout history, most significant changes in society have come from a small group of hard working positive thinkers. Parents, friends, therapists, teachers, everyone is welcome to join. You are a piece of the puzzle, and we need you to be complete. Regards, Ida
