Guest guest
This could have been a reaction to something in the environment. As I celiac and an individual with MCS, I have these reactions . Read this but be aware the SCD itself does not place restrictions on non food items we do not ingest. http://www.celiac.com/blogs/35/What-A-Swell-Party-This-Is.html > I've been using butter for about 3 weeks without noticing any > problems. > But yesterday, Sunday, for dinner, we were at a friends house and I > felt bloated after dinner. Guest guest
Orlinda, Did you take your own safe butter? Or was it something your friend provided? Many people do not differentiate between " butter " and " margarine " or the blends. One list member had a serious problem when she ate out and ordered shrimp with butter and garlic. Turned out the restaurant used a processed powdered mix to make their " garlic butter " instead of real garlic and real butter. Even real butter is something to keep an eye on -- one person recently discovered that a company had started adding " natural flavors " to the unsalted butter she was purchasing to make ghee. That's a good warning about " natural flavors " in butter. I hadn't looked at the label in a while. . . It doesn't list anything. Thanks for your help. I will ask her about cleaning products or anything like that. Thanks for your help! Orlinda - OR Celiac - 2006 SCD - Sept. 2007
Guest guest
Hi Orlinda, Perhaps it could be something simple like you swallowing more air when you're eating and talking excitedly with your friends. Besides bad bacteria emitting unwanted gas (if butter is the culprit) . . . gulping food down (not chewing food well or swallowing quickly before talking), which you may not be aware you're doing, can introduce air in your belly that can cause that fullness or bloatedness you feel. Just guessing. Well wishes to all. ferna, UC/CD, SCD 97, 05, 06, No Meds -----Original Message----- Sunday, for dinner, we were at a friends house and I felt bloated after dinner. I brought my own food and ate the same things I'd been eating all week. I had the same problem last Sunday too, at the same house for dinner, but the bloating seemed more intense. Any suggestions?
