Autism Compact Workgroups Seek Members

One, the Autism Compact Workgroup, will develop and execute a compact relating to insurance coverage and access to services for persons with developmental disabilities. The second, the Autism Compact Consumer Advisory Workgroup, will provide a forum for comment on the negotiated compact.The Office of Insurance Regulation is currently accepting letters of interest from people that would like to participate in these two workgroups. The form must be completed and sent to autism@... by July 15, 2008.The first meetings of these workgroups are tentatively scheduled for August 22, 2008 in Tallahassee. As this legislation did not have any appropriation attached to it, workgroup members will be responsible for the cost of their own expenses.These workgroups will be creating a report that will be forwarded to the Governor and the Legislature in February, 2009. Participating in these workgroups is a great way to get involved in deciding how people with autism in Florida will be insured in coming years.
