Last Chance--Three Days Left!

A Message from the Alliance for Natural Health USA

Joyce,

Earlier this month, ANH-USA reported to you on the IOM’s troubling new recommendations for vitamin D supplementation. The IOM’s panel recommended a daily dose of just 600 IU for everyone from infants to adults, and set the upper limit at just 4,000 IU daily. I told you that ANH-USA has a strategy to counter the bad science in the IOM’s report, and asked for your most generous donation in support of our plan.

This summer many of you participated in our newsletter readers' survey. You told us you were tired of always playing defense against the worst, and you wanted more proactive action for the better. We listened. That’s why we’re not stopping at challenging the IOM on vitamin D: We’re going after the FDA.

Working with renowned attorney Emord, we hit the FDA earlier hard this year when a federal judge ruled they had suppressed free speech by forbidding selenium manufacturers to promote selenium’s benefits for cancer-risk reduction. This embarrassing defeat makes it risky for FDA officials to continue to deny scientifically supported health claims for supplements—and perhaps no supplement has more science supporting its health benefits than vitamin D, making it our best bet to continue our assault on the FDA’s First Amendment violations.

We need to raise $18,000 in order to file qualified health claims for vitamin D and defend them in court against the FDA. Your donation today, no matter how big or small, will directly fund our legal challenges that defend DSHEA and stop the FDA’s unconstitutional power abuses.

Our motto at ANH-USA is "Good Science and Good Law". It's worth noting that the Codex Alimentarius Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Supplements declares that "Maximum amounts of vitamins and minerals in vitamin and mineral food supplements ... shall be set, taking the following criteria into account: upper safe levels of vitamins and minerals established by scientific risk assessment based on generally accepted scientific data." (CAC/GL 55, 3.2.2)

By supporting good science that demonstrates the safety and efficacy of high-dose vitamins, and by having this science recognized by federal courts and agencies as sound and valid, we are building a foundation of generally accepted scientific data that will protect our access to high-dose vitamins now and in the future. Won’t you please make a donation to our tax-deductible legal and educational fund today?

We’ve had a lot of victories together this year. Thank you for all you’ve done to make those victories possible.

Best wishes for a healthy and happy new year, sonMembership Director

P.S. Remember, your donation to our legal and educational fund is 100% tax-deductible, and any donations you make before January 1 represent an extra deduction on your 2010 tax return.
