Guest guest
Hi everyone, Question 1). I have a couple of questions. About a month ago Janet and I were looking over a tape from Magic. It was Dr. Harbison's presentation from 2 or 3 years ago. In it she stated she didn't want to start an RSS child on growth hormone until he reached the 50th (that's right 50th) percentile. Does any one recall that? Was she talking in general or about an individual case. Question 2). If any one is using a speech and or physical therapist can you send their name and phone number. 's speech therapist would like to talk to them about RSS kids. Comments about weighing and measuring. When we first learned had RSS we measured every bit of food that went in his mouth for 4 months. Now we only do it for 3 days before we see the nutritionist. It is quite a chore that is made somewhat simpler by a food scale. It would be even simple if we could find a calorie counting/meal planning program that runs on a Mac. I know that there are a couple of excellent ones for about $50 that run on a PC. We weigh once a week (Sunday Morning before breakfast). We also record those weights and bring them to the pedo end when we go. The pedo endo likes to have this information as back up to her own measurements even though they come from an unreliable source (parents). Plus, I am over 40 and I am weighing on the same baby scale that my parents for me. It goes up to 30 pounds with division of 1 oz. Last, if it wasn't for periactin, would not be 22 pounds now. If any one is having trouble with your child being tired, our doctor had suggested that we could the complete dose 30 minutes before bed. That way, the drowsiness would be gone by morning and he would wake up very hungry. However, we didn't have to do that. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Ken....I think Dr. H. means she doesn't want to start GH until a child has reached 50th on the height/weight ratio measure. However, for us, she told us the goal was to reach 20th, I believe. Katy
