Guest guest
Hi, I drink chamomille tea. It really does work. I use Alvita brand. You have to steep it for 10 mins. I've also heard peppermint tea works and I use Traditonal Medicinals tea called Eater's Digest which has peppermint and fennel in it. It causes me to burp which makes me feel better. Guest guest
Eileen I had a problem with gas build-up in my small intestines in the months before I started SCD and for about the first year on SCD. Time on SCD took care of most of the problem, although I still have bloating as part of my slow upper GI motility, so there are occasional episodes even now. During the worst of my gassiness I found some help by using a OTC product at Walmart; called Gas-X I think. The medication name was simethicone, if I'm remembering right. I don't have the med. any more, so can't look at a box to let you know for sure. When I started SCD I checked GasX for it's legality, and it appeared to be OK. Just contained a gel capsule and the simethicone. I used to take one several times a day -- caused me to burp which helped somewhat, although the gas build-up and discomfort was lower down, so this didn't clear up the problem completely. Just eased the pressure somewhat. I also took a short course of Xifaxin, an antibiotic that targets the small intestine, about my 2nd month on SCD. My gastroenterologist recommended it because of my small intestine bloating. That also helped tremendously. It's the easiest antibiotic I've ever taken, but of course you still have to take precautions and increase the acidophilus dosing and be careful with food choices to prevent a yeast/candida surge. Mostly I found time on SCD helped the most with gas in my small intestine. Just keep going. Kim M.
