Guest guest
Kirkman labs www.kirkmanlabs.com will let you buy samples to try on your child. Try and find liquids if the supplements are a huge problem. My child used to like ice pops and I would hide supps. in there. You have to be creative. Inside shakes, ice cream, juice - whatever works. But liquids usually work the best if you can substitute some of the supplements to a liquid form. Badillo Gas prices getting you down? Search AOL Autos for fuel-efficient used cars. Guest guest
Pfeiffer Treatment Center has a compounding pharmacy on their web site. They will either compound or help find powder or liquid form vitamins. My son has gone to them since he was 7. He is now 24. He prefers individual supplements and takes 10 morning 12 evening. http://www.hriptc.org/scroll down to HRI Pharmacy near the bottom of the page. There is also a phone number and e-mail address on the page. DonnaSubject: Supplement helpTo: sList Date: Friday, June 20, 2008, 8:23 AM Well, we did it. We took our 3 1/2 year old to a DAN dr. Anyway, we were given a bunch of supplements to start him on. The problem is that he doesn't swallow pills, and we have tried putting the contents of the capsules in different foods and he refuses to eat them. He tastes the difference. He is not usually a picky eater. My questions are: 1. Is there something else to give that is child friendly instead of the Vitaspectrum from Klaire Labs? 2. If not, how do you get your kid to take all these supplements? Thanks so much!
Guest guest
Hi and all, The best thing you can possibly do, IMHO, is teach your child how to take pills. This is a skill that will be invaluable throughout his whole life. We had our behaviorist run a pill-taking program with Noah when he was very young. Keep in mind that Noah is very orally defensive and only eats about a dozen foods, so if he could learn to take pills, just about any kid can! I know that some moms have taught their kids by using empty capsules, tiny ones at first that you can get from the pharmacist, heavily reward the child for swallowing it, and gradually use bigger capsules. Guest guest
, Start slow, and introduce one new supplement at the time. I put an article in s's list files that may be good for you and is about how to give supplements to your child. Do not give him a choice, and explain to him why he has to take them. Also it will help if after he takes the supplements you give him something that he really likes, then he will know that after he takes them something good is coming. There is liquid vitamins, like super nu-thera, but vitaspectrum has higuer strenghts than the super nu-thera, and believe em none of these supplements taste really good, even the ones that have flavors, I think that makes it actually worse!
