Guest guest
My seven year old son also went through a bad (about seven weeks) withdrawl period when we went gluten free. His behavior at home and school was absolutely hideous, until he finally started to calm down. I've heard that the discomfort they feel is similar to quitting smoking, but it must be worse. You may want to just put your expenssive baked goods and flours in the freezer until his system calms down, and for now just give him the hot dogs, french fries, and corn chips that are familiar and that he will eat! Make sure he takes a good multivitamin, and this won't hurt him. My son is also a hot dog freak, and I buy him nitrate free beef hot dogs from the HFS. After a couple of months on this diet, you learn what your child will and won't accept, and stop trying everything under the sun. It gets easier. There must be some way to help kids get through withdrawl- addicts are hospitalized, smokers have nicotine patches. It seems to be very agonizing for some kids.
