Guest guest
it helps them because it is a good diet--good for anyone--not just people with " problems. " as for the necessity of them being on it, there is none. adam > 2 of my 4 kids came up celiac positive and had biopsies today - i have > celiac/crohns > i'm doing scd to heal the intestines but for celiacs all they need to > do is go gluten-free and the villi grows back, tests are neg again and > everything (already happened to me) so how does scd make sense for > them??? > thanks > eileen > 7 weeks scd > > > > >
Guest guest
Eileen, I know that's what they say. But in reading Dr. Haas' book it was very clear that they were able to eat gluten and they never had a problem. I'm sure " they " have an answer for that, and that's okay. I will keep praying. :0) Orlinda - OR Celiac - 2006 SCD - 2007 > when i mentioned this healing celiac in my other online group - > they said once gluten is re-introduced then there's the reaction > and boom there's your celiac again??? > hope it's not true - keep praying! > eileen >
Guest guest
thanks - I have read it (but will re-read) - but i guess because they have no symptoms (never did) and are so young that I feel gf will heal them - I mean I know my villi are back already and I'm doing scd now for the Crohns healing - I'm just confused that why not just be gf - if they never slip - they'll be healed inside too right?? eileen > > Hi, > > > > In my nutrition studies and personal experience I learned that a gluten free > diet may help initially but long term does nothing to actually heal the > intestinal permeability ie. leaky gut which develops from the gluten > sensitivities and excess carbohydrate fermentation in the gut. Eileen, " Gluten free " removes only the major problem for celiacs. It doesn't HEAL them. SCD is the ORIGINAL celiac diet. It takes the step beyond and eliminates the starches and sugars which the bad bacteria feed on continuously. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
I have a genetic sensitive to gluten and casein (in milk). I had a stool specimen and DNA swab tests done by EnteroLabs in Dallas. I was not diagnosed with celiac disease but the end result is the same. According to the information I was provided after the testing I will always have to avoid these products. Meaning they will always be with me. Going GF/CF did not solve my problems however when I went on the SCD it stopped all my pain and diarrhea. I regard the diet as a miracle. I do not feel deprived at all, the trade off is worth it. One has to make a committment and never look back nor agonize over what they can't have. Sorry your children are so young and having such problems but please don't think celiac can be healed, it can be handled. Ginger Nash GF/CF also allergic to yeast products, molds SCD 10/07 Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search. Guest guest
i think they'd go with scd at this point pretty easily - they wouldn't even feel deprived - they have no symptoms and wouldn't even be limited or like me stuck on 8-10 fods LOL! just didn't know if it needed to be done - so you're saying scd handles it too? nothing will heal it??? eileen > > I have a genetic sensitive to gluten and casein (in milk). Guest guest
Yeah, the problem is that with people with IBD, for various reasons the bad bacteria are able to breach the cell walls of the intestine, and root in, causing inflammation by causing the body's immune system to attack itself ineffectively to get rid of the bad bacteria. Thus disease. > so the villi grow back but if bacteria is still there, they are still > being damaged?? - doesn't everyone have bacteria? not just > us " intestional disease people " I'm confused > eileen > > > > > > > > > >>> thanks - I have read it (but will re-read) - but >>> i guess because they have no symptoms (never >>> did) and are so young that I feel gf will heal >>> them - I mean I know my villi are back already >>> and I'm doing scd now for the Crohns healing - >>> I'm just confused that why not just be gf - if >>> they never slip - they'll be healed inside too right?? >> >> Eileen, >> >> " Gluten free " removes only the major problem for celiacs.
