Guest guest
I am going to bring her to he GI again next month. Yes..she def. is all about gut issues. No I have not tested her for yeast levels.I can not afford a DAN doctor, and I am not sure is the GI can rquest those tests but I plan to ask him. Thank you for your input, Sky Mom BTW..her favorite food is yogurt..hmmm wonder why? Antibiotic therapy and autismTo: sList@ yahoogroups. comDate: Monday, September 29, 2008, 6:26 PM Hi all,my daughter has had GI problems all her life. She is now six. tLast week she came down with strep throat. She was put on an antibiotic. Then the last few days my daughter has had normal BMs. I can not believe it! This is the first time this has ever happened.(For three days in a row) Not only that but she is using the toilet independently. (She has had a normal BM now and then, but never for three days in a row. At those times she used the bathroom by herself, so I knew she could do it. I have explained this to every GI doctor , and they all agreed that Skyler is aware of when to use the bathroom. (She is totally urine trained now) Not only this, but her teachers can not believe the difference in her speech in only one week, plus they say "What did you do? Sky seems so happy!" (Yeah..if my stomach ache was finally gone after six years I would be happy too LOL...Maybe this is just a fluke thing. I will see, but if my theory is correct and the meds start to taper off she will probably revert back to the old GI problems. Have any of you heard of this antibiotic theraapy? For the hell of it I looked it up online, I could not believe there was actually case studies on this. I called her GI doctor and he told me that I need to bring her in ..as usual! I am very curious to see if my theory is right, and this really was helping her.Have any of you heard of this???Kriss

Guest guest
Hi Kriss, Definitely sounds as if there is a fungal issue. Sometimes regular tests for yeast shows up neg., but it could possibly be systemic. Dr Courtnee Pingaro is the DAN! doctor I work with, and she does a microbial OATS test which is pretty comprehensive. Her number is . I sometimes sit in on her intakes as I am a Certified Nutritional Consultant and doctoral candidate but primarily, because my son was diagnosed at 2 1/2 and has now officially been "undiagnosed", so I can guide you through the "journey", though no two children are the same. Also, as to your question about Stan Kurtz, go to www.stankurtz.com . He has a wonderful write up about reversing his son, Ethan's autism through a comprehensive anti viral anti fungal therapy. He is truly one of my heroes in the world of autism. He has done thousands of HOURS of research and is the formulator of methyl b12 nasal spray as well as the just released mb12 strips (www.mb12strips.com ). He is also the only "Warrior Daddy" in 's new book and deservedly so. Guest guest
You can request the requisition directly from Great Plains Lab and ask your GI doc to sign. He/She may be apprehensive but it is worth a try. I think we still need a doc's signature for these labs. Since finances are an issue, only do the most basic test which I think is for bacteria and yeast. You really want to know about the bacteria. Examples of "rigidity" are: my son struggling to take the van to school when he usally rides in the truck, needing to use the same sink to wash his hands, being unable to stop playing a video game when asked, having to walk on the painted lines in a parking lot, follow a particular path. Helpful? When my son does not have bacteria, he is very easygoing and able to adjust to transitions or changes very easily. Most of our kids crave exactly what they are allergic to and exactly what "feeds the yeast and bacteria." Does your daughter have identified food allergies? Does she have eczema? You can google/yahoo Stan Kurtz. He is a dad who utilized a varity of approaches to "recover" his son. He now speaks at many DAN conventions and reportedly helped identify that methyl b-12 was useful to our kids and ADHD. He often speaks about the many factors involved in autism and "carpet bombing" the viruses, bacteria, metals and yeast. He is cited on the TACA website. And he has a newsgroup: mb12 valtrex or something similar on yahoo. Antibiotic therapy and autism Hi all,my daughter has had GI problems all her life. Guest guest
the strips are totally new (like the listerine strips--really cool) and are supposed to be at www.mb12strips.org , but it looks like they may be either having website issues or supply and demand issues. I'm sure Stan was trying to get the product out by the time 's book came out, but keep checking back to that website. I'm sure they'll get the details worked out rather quickly. Haven't tried them, but I'm sure Stan would not allow an ineffective product to be released with his name behind it. (We still use the nasal spray right now). Guest guest
you may want to do a trial run ( perhaps a few weeks) of the shots and then if you feel that your child might be a non responder (which is why Stan originally developed the nasal spray as his son Ethan did not respond to the shots- but he did) ,switch to the spray (looks like the strips might not be out just yet) His studies on his website are quite awesome (www.recoveryvideos.com ) Wanda Re: Antibiotic therapy and autism Thank you thank you thank you, Day number four..so far so good..BM are starting to go back to their abnormal consistancy, however still went on the toilet by herself. Guest guest
I think the nasal spray might be more difficult for us to administer than the shots, because my daughter will not hold still in the least to spray something in her nose, but thanks so much for the info.
