The difference between the Fage and the starter yogurt is the

acidophilus, O believe. Yogourmet has it; Fage does not. I do better with

all my probiotics in yogurt, although I can survive on supplements if I

have to -- and did after Hurricane Katrina.

So the basic difference is the types of probiotics in the yogurt

starter.

Yeah, lactobacillus is better for you in the yogurt.

According to a mediator on pecanbread, the yogurt coats

the probiotic in some kind of coating which encases it

on its trip down, which means it will have more longevity

on its trip down your intestinal system. That may be a bit

imprecise, but I hope it conveys the point.

The powdered starter is more tart. If you want

it less tart, get Dannon yogurt or some other

yogurt with lactobacillus and use that for a starter.

Mara, who loves the tart.

Hmm ... does the Dannon have any acidophilus in it? I'm unable to take

supplements, so if it doesn't, I should probably switch to Yogourmet. My yogurt isn't

extremely tart, so I'm guessing that if the Dannon does have adidophilus, it isn't much. ??
