Yeah, lactobacillus is better for you in the yogurt. According to a mediator on pecanbread, the yogurt coats the probiotic in some kind of coating which encases it on its trip down, which means it will have more longevity on its trip down your intestinal system. That may be a bit imprecise, but I hope it conveys the point. The powdered starter is more tart. If you want it less tart, get Dannon yogurt or some other yogurt with lactobacillus and use that for a starter. Mara, who loves the tart. I'm unable to take supplements, so if it doesn't, I should probably switch to Yogourmet. My yogurt isn't extremely tart, so I'm guessing that if the Dannon does have adidophilus, it isn't much. ?? ~ Celiac, SCD since 9-07 with lots of mistakes.
